Sprays and individual crystals to 1.8 CM are freestanding on the Gossan matrix. In excellent condition, most of these translucent white crystals are arranged in radiating sprays with the flat edges always parallel to each other. The famed Mina Ojuela at one time produced a lot of Hemimorphite, much was well-crystalized. However, even in the golden years at the mine this would be a fine specimen, far above average esthetically. There are no new finds of this quality for the past few years, this specimen is almost 50 years old. Ex Les Hitchings Collection, his ledger notes he obtained it at Ojuela in 1964, this was the very early period of fine Mexican minerals being sought by US collectors. Far better in person.
Adamite - purple, with Lotharmeyerite

A bubbly gossan matrix hosts a group of lustrous purple Adamite crystals. The purple Adamites at Mina Ojuela are the rarest of colors and practically unknown from anyplace else. This specimen also has some micro crystal clusters of Lothameyerite. The Adamites are translucent to transparent and have some zoning of the color. Often called Manganoan Adamite, these crystals are sharp, well-terminated and contrast well with the matrix. A very good value for a miniature of this usually far more expensive variety of Adamite.

Unusually rich large specimen of Conichalcite with bright color and luster. From finds over 15 years ago at Mina Ojuela, this show the most desirable "wet" look and the Conichalcite is also well-defined in tiny spheroids. A few scattered Calcite rhombs are also noted. Conichalcite is not a rare mineral at the mine but super bright cabinet sized pieces are not seen very often. This show well the layered structure with a nice contrast with the gossan matrix.
A small cabinet Legrandite with great color contrast and many gemmy crystals. The red gossan matrix has a main open vug that is filled with bright yellow to orange crystals of Legrandite sitting on a light green druse of copper rich Austinite. Close exam with good magnification finds some tiny Kottigite, Adamite and other micro crystals as well. The main interest however is the Legrandite. The largest crystal sprays (which reach 2 CM) are pocket bound and so are not as well-defined, however the smaller crystals are impressively complete and perfect, many are free standing, sharply terminated, lustrous and transparent. Good Legrandites from Mina Ojuela are highly regarded, they are by far the best in the world and have only been found a few times in small numbers. This one is from the Benny Fenn find so is an early example and a good value.

A fine and pretty matrix Legrandite with sharp canary yellow crystals protected in a vug. The condition as seen is excellent and undamaged despite the fragility of this rare mineral. While this could be trimmed to a fine thumbnail the larger matrix seems fine to me as is showing many other vugs and associations adding interest. Choice.
A Mexican classic! The Adamites of the Ojuela Mine are probably the world's best. Many styles and colors are known, but almost nothing of quality has been found for many years. This type of ball aggregate is very desirable, getting hard to find and usually very expensive. On this one the large ball is 2.3 CM and well placed, it is fully crystallized with good green color. A flat spot on the top seems to be a contact but there is no damage anyplace. Quite esthetic and very well priced.
