Mottramite covering Wulfenite
stock #22.1-045
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
9.6 x 6.8 x 4.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $590

Strangely esthetic and in fantastic condition, this is a rather rare example of this find at Mina Ojuela. Crystals of Wulfenite have been covered and mostly replaced by thick masses of Mottramite. This material was found in a small but exciting discovery in 2018-19. It was distinctive and most pieces were quickly snatched up by collectors. This is being recycled from that find and is well above average for quality and form. A very nice addition for a suite of pseudomorphs, Mexican classics or just strange and wonderful minerals.

Cerussite - blue-green crystals on Pyrite
stock #AX-29-107
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
9.6 x 6.3 x 2.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $380

Several habits of well-formed Cerusite crystals are scattered on a Pyrite matrix. The Cerussite covers both sides of this piece but the best are on the side shown here. In fine condition with excellent color on the crystals. It has been said the green coating is Posnjakite and other sources say it is Langite. Both are logical possibilities but this is untested. No matter the source, the color and sharp crystal habit make for a very attractive specimen. From a find in 2015 at the Ojuela Mine, one of history’s greatest sources of mineral surprises.

Aurichalcite
stock #AX-10-868
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
7.3 x 6.8 x 3.8 CM (cabinet)
price: $420

A rich and large vug of Aurichalcite crystals in hairlike masses and clusters. Excellent color and in very fine condition. A classic from Mina Ojuela, this is a fairly old (1970-80 era) specimen and far better than the usual seen from this locality .It has a very large blue zone, long hairs (to well over 1 CM) in thick layers and has real display impact. Very few minerals in the world have this exact color, it stands out in any cabinet!

Adamite (Cuprian)
stock #23.1-644
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
4.9 x 3.4 x 2.9 CM (miniature)
price: $120
Pre Tucson

Classic Adamite crystals from Mina Ojuela but with the more rare color. Well-defined mint green crystals on contrasting gossan matrix in good condition as seen. The crystals have glassy faces and translucent milky interiors. A nice affordable and attractive Adamite from this most incredibale locality. This can be trimmed to a pair of thumbnails but we like it as is.

Legrandite
stock #14.1-085
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
4.7 x 3.5 x 3.2 CM (miniature)
price: $750
Pre Tucson

Bright yellow sprays of fine Legrandite crystals in a shallow vug. These crystals are gemmy and have a bright glassy luster, reaching to 2.4 CM in length. World-wide Legrandite is very rare and good pieces are prized. From the Robert Ray collection with label dating the piece to 1974, so this piece is part of the early top find at Ojuela. In fine condition and very esthetic, the world’s best Legrandite has come from this locality and from this era. Such nice quality is only available from older collections being dispursed, very little of quality has been found in the past few decades and nothing at all for a few years.

Adamite - classic pinwheel clusters
stock #9.1-018
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
4.5 x 3.8 x 2.7 CM (miniature)
price: $650
Pre Tucson

Very fine light yellow-green crystals of Adamite arranged in the "pinwheel" type of radiating spray. A choice miniature in excellent undamaged condition from the classic finds about 20 years ago at Mina Ojuela. Good Mexican Adamites were once rather plentiful but this quality and form were never common. These are now quite hard to find and this is an especially elegant and esthetic piece. The radiating sprays exceed 2 CM across, these contrast with the gossan matrix. Displays well from most any angle, and the matrix is not the ultra fragile, crumbly type.

Quartz on Calcite on Aurichalcite
stock #17.1-557
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
7.3 x 5.7 x 4.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $380
Spring 23

An unusual specimen ex Les Hitchings collection, obtained in 1963 as noted in his ledger; one of his earliest pieces. This is quite different from more recent pieces and has a fine composition overall. The Calcite and Quartz have a light mint-green color caused by the underlying copper minerals. A small area of Aurichalcite is noted on the matrix. The taller fingers or towers grade to a white to pale yellow color at the tips. Overall in excellent condition, the sparkle and luster are excellent. This dates back to the early years of Mexican mineral specimens being exported to the USA.

Mimetite
stock #13.1-145
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
5.3 x 3.7 x 2.1 CM (cabinet)
price: $480
Spring 23

A fine "wet-look" Mimetite in elongated balls and fingers covers a contrasting matrix. Excellent color and luster in fine condition. The surfaces have a distinct sparkle as well. From the find about 7 years ago at Mina Ojuela, these look very much like the prized San Pedro Corralitos Mimetite from the 1980 era. As these are a more recent discovery the price for a fine piece like this are considerable less than the older material yet the look is very similar.
