Barite (Baryte) - large zoned crystals
stock #7.AE-476
Jinkouhe town, Ebian
Sichuan Province, China
10 x 5.6 x 3.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $280
new year 2021

A cluster of three main Barite crystals that are translucent, phantomed and have areas of gemmy over-growths. Somewhat crude but complete and recrystallized on many faces. The blocky terminations have several faces that are zoned, with inclusions of white and pale yellow that is likely all Barite as well. In excellent condition, near the base is a small chip and the bottom was the point of attachment. Older specimen vintage 2004 from Jinkouhe in the Ebian area, Sichuan, China. An architectural habit with the crystals in a parallel growth that has the look of a skyscraper.

Super bright Barite crystals from Jinkouhe Ex. John Marshall collection. John obtained this in 2003 when the first and best finds had just been made. In incredible condition, no damage seen by naked eye but with magnification some very small edge scuff are found, really close to perfect. The crystals are all transparent with a nice bright color, most have cloud-like inclusions as phantoms in some. Previous labels and collection card are included. I have seen nothing like this from China for a long time.

Barite on Quartz
stock #5.1-120
Jinkouhe town, Ebian
Sichuan Province, China
6.8 x 4.5 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $330
Winter 2016-17

Nice form and composition with a pleasing color contrast. The Jinkouhe locality in Ebian has produced tons of Barite some well-crystallized. Usually this Barite is pure white sitting on white Quartz with weak esthetics and little contrast. A few rare colored pieces have been found and this is a good one. A rich yellow zone in the Barite makes a fine contrast to the gemmy clear Quartz crystals. The main Quartz are undamaged but the matrix has some small broken stubs that are not very noticeable. The Barite is complete and grown around the Quartz. It sits and displays well. There is minor edge rub on the Barite and contacts on the back, but overall a very cute and esthetic arrangement.

pre Tucson 2015 update

A delicate mineral sculpture with very sharp form. This presents outstanding form and arrangement that is unusually eye-catching for a colorless specimen! Older (about 2004) Chinese specimen with gemmy Barites some of which have white phantoms. The condition is pristine and that is quite amazing given the delicacy of this piece.
