Pyromorphite - fine, large classic Chinese
stock #6.2-550
Daoping Mine, Gongcheng County, Guilin Prefecture
Guangxi Province, Chile
9.8 x 8 x 5.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $2600

An impressive large forest-green Pyro from the era of the best finds at Daoping mine (early 2000's) This is all Pyromorphite and displays incredibly well with slightly matte luster and a deep varied green color. The condition overall is fine but a very close inspection finds only a few small spots of tip roughness. Displays well and the imperfections are almost unnoticeable, yet they do keep the price lower. This style of Pyro was found from about 1999 to 2003 and not since. Later finds had different colors and habits, but this is the most classic. The better Chinese Pyromorphites are now highly respected as some of the best found over the past few centuries. These have become very expensive and rare in this size and quality, this one is from a newly released collection and a very good value (IMHO)!

Pyromorphite
stock #8.AE-888
Daoping Mine, Gongcheng County, Guilin Prefecture
Guangxi Province, Chile
4.8 x 4 x 3.1 CM (miniature)
price: $330
Pre Tucson

Apple-green Pyromorphite in fine condition from the classic Daoping mine finds of the early 2000 era. This specimen has 4 different habits of unusual crystallization form present and almost none of the common styles. An excellent specimen for a serious suite of Pyromorphites or for odd habits and rare forms. Elongated spindles, stretched wave forms and others are present. In fine condition, this is nicely attractive on a shelf but amazing and complex when examined closely or with magnification.

Cerussite - two generations, two colors
stock #7.AE-418
Daoping Mine, Gongcheng County, Guilin Prefecture
Guangxi Province, China
9.7 x 8.1 x 3.9 CM (cabinet)
price: $1250
Spring 23

Superb early (2005) Chinese Cerussite from the famed Daoping Mine. In incredible condition and with great color, luster and form. The larger yellow crystals are often labeled as Chrome Cerussite and the green as Cuprian. We do not know if this is correct at this locality or for sure which elements cause these colors from this mine. No matter the chromophore, the esthetics and condition are very fine on this piece, it is unlike anything found for several years, certainly a modern classic. The largest crystal is 1.7 CM and the yellows do seem to be a later generation, the smaller, earlier crystals are the greens. Cerussite is a fragile mineral, the crystals here are well-exposed and yet are still in fine condition, something remarkable.

Pyromorphite
stock #8.AE-887
Daoping Mine, Gongcheng County, Guilin Prefecture
Guangxi Province, Chile
3.8 x 2.7 x 2.4 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $200
Post Tucson 2022

A vibrant green thumbnail of lustrous Pyro crystals from the famed Daoping Mine (Guangxi, China). In fine condition as seen, this is just a bit too large to be a thumbnail though it could perhaps be trimmed, it looks fine as is. Close exam shows the crystals are more apple green near the bottom and become a bit more yellow green near the terminations. This piece is early 2000 era specimen which was the most productive time for these super bright greens which made the locale famous in the mineral world.

Pyromorphite
stock #8.AE-894
Daoping Mine, Gongcheng County, Guilin Prefecture
Guangxi Province, China
7.8 x 6.7 x 5.1 CM (cabinet)
price: $390
Late Summer 2021

A sizable specimen of nearly pure Pyromorphite with most of the "matrix" being pyro as well. From the spectacular finds at Daoping in the early 2000 era, this is a nice three dimensional specimen. The crystals are small, tightly packed and most are slender but some other habits are present, the color and luster are good, this is overall in fine condition. Specimens with larger crystals from this zone are some of the best of the specie and can command very high prices. This piece with relatively small crystals is just as colorful but far less costly.

Pyromorphite
stock #20.1-877
Daoping Mine, Gongcheng County, Guilin Prefecture
Guangxi Province, China
5.7 x 3.7 x 3.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $1350
new year 2021

A very rich and super esthetic Pyromorphite from the great finds at Daoping in Guanxi, China. Two generations of well-formed Pyros have slightly different hues of green and all have excellent bright luster. The larger crystals are free standing and reach 1.3 CM. Terminations of the larger crystals are both hopper habit and prismatic with the larger being more the cavernous hoppered type. On a few sides of these crystals are some dark and metallic overgrowths that were at first misidentified as Galena but are likely a Hematite/ Goethite. Overall this is incredible condition, it is even better in person and is an excellent example of the specie and the locality.

Pyromorphite
stock #20.1-287
Daoping Mine, Gongcheng County, Guilin Prefecture
Guangxi Province, China
4.7 x 3.2 x 1.7 CM (miniature)
price: $880

Elongated chain crystals in an intricate cluster showing exceptionally bright color and luster. The form and overall display esthetics clearly show why the Daoping mine is considered by many as the greatest Pyromorphite locality in the world. This piece displays super well from any angle and has a lot of visual impact. In fine condition as seen, this is almost a complete "floater" just a tiny contact on the base and on the back, the front side is flawless and shows beautifully the epitaxial alignment of the stacked crystals. A lot of good pyromorphite came from Daoping from 2000 to 2017, but top grade pieces have always been uncommon and desirable.

Pyromorphite
stock #20.1-172
Daoping Mine, Gongcheng County, Guilin Prefecture
Guangxi Province, China
5.4 x 5.2 x 2.8 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $950
Spring 2020

Pyromorphite can be an incredibly beautiful mineral, the best having great color, luster and form. This piece is certainly a fine one from the great Daoping Mine which many consider to be the greatest locality for Pyros in the world. This from one of the last good finds for the bright green unaltered type in 2017. More recent materials have much less bright color and are often at least partly altered. Crystals reach 1 CM on this piece in isolated prisms and radiating clusters these have both pointed terminations and the hollow hoppered tops so well known from this mine. In incredible condition, good Daoping Pyromorphites are one of the modern mineral markets best values. This one is especially so and it displays well from almost any angle.
