A super impressive and very unusual radiating fan or "wheatsheaf" clustering of chisel terminated Barite. Frizington Barite (or Barytes) is one of the great classics on the mineral world. One of the special features of good Barite from Frizington is their Bicolor nature. On this piece zoned inclusions of Hematite give a red color to edges of the prisms while the core and some terminations are a bright blue. Only some very minor edge wear can be seen and is not evident on display, overall in excellent condition which is impressive for an old classic.
Even if you have seen a lot of great classic English Barites, this one is something special! The Barite blades are sharp, glassy to 6 CM in size, with a pale blue-grey color and partly included by dark red hematite. Just that is enough for a fine collection, but what makes this exceptional is the bright gem clear Calcites that are also partly included by hematite encrusting selective faces of the Barite. Very esthetic, the main crystals are in perfect condition but some edge and base damage (from removal) is noted, it will not be noticed from most logical display angles.
