A classic habit Calcite from Charcas, Mexico which is a stack of thick (and a few thin) hexagons in a staggered alignment. Vividly fluorescent as well, the luster is bright on the side faces, the flat terminal faces are a pearly matte so much less shiny. The bottom has contacts but there is no damage. Translucent to slightly transparent, the crystals are internally zoned.
Slightly frosted on some faces, sharp, clear and in fine condition, this old specimen is from 1960s vintage finds at Charcas. Selective frosting adds to the visual interest and the form is textbook perfect. The termination shows a nice effect with the selected areas outlining a central hexagon. Nothing quite like these Calcites has since been found.

pre Tucson 2015 update
Great color and luster, this is a Datolite from Mexico that looks much more like a good Russian specimen. From a small find in late 2013, this has the form, clarity and quality of the top few percent. Some edge chipping/contacts is inevitable but overall in very good condition.
