Schorl with Cleavelandite
stock #20.1-299-(LW1122)
Urucum Mine, Galileia
Minas Gerais, Brazil
3.4 x 2.6 x 1.7 CM (thumbnail)
price: $80
new year 2021

A "candelabra" style specimen of slender Tourmalines in a pretty arrangement offset by well-crystallized Cleavelandite. This will fit in a thumbnail box (barely) and has very nice contrast. Originally labeled as an Elbaite, but on close study it is a Schorl. Ex Larry White collection he obtained it from the Brauns in 1975. I do not see many attractive Schorl of this sort and never in thumbnail size. While not a rare specie it is surprisingly rare to see in thumbnail collections.

Schorl on Fluorite with Feldspar, Quartz
stock #AX-14-163
Erongo Mountain, Karibib
Erongo Region, Namibia
4.5 x 3.9 x 3 CM (miniature)
price: $750
Spring 2014

A super specimen from Erongo which displays very well and has remarkable esthetics. The black Tourmaline has brilliant luster in person and has a prismatic termination at the top and a lower termination of the fibrous type on the bottom. The contrast with the bi-color green and purple zoned fluorite gives this piece its great esthetics. In excellent condition damage wise, the photos do not do this one justice!
