Blocky, well-defined Babingtonite crystals perched on a contrasting green Prehnite. In fine condition as seen, the Babingtonites have a mixed luster, some faces and areas are slightly matte while others are more shiny. A few years ago this find produced a treasure trove of Babingtonites, the best and largest ever seen. The source seems to have been finished and these are now becoming scarce. The better pieces have the botryoidal green Prehnite matrix like this one.

A remarkable tree-like cluster of well formed fairly lustrous and distinct Babingtonite crystals on a sliver of matrix. From the Lane Quarry of Westfield, Massachusetts found a few decades ago, this locality was at the time famed for the world's best Babingtonites. The more recent discovery of superb Babingtonites from China since took the title of world's best for the specie but those are very different in habit. The old classic US specimens are unique and still prized in collections as they are more rare and have an immediately recognized look very different from the Chinese specimens. This piece is very fine for the locale and is in fine condition overall with crystals to about 1 CM. Almost impossible to find for sale today in any quality, this one is unusually choice.

Well perched sharp and lustrous Babingtonite crystals on contrasting green Prehnite. The finds of these incredible Babingtonites in Meigu redefined this specie and are considered by far the worlds best. The clear form and bright black luster gives this specimen a strong presence. Esthetic and in fine condition there are a few clear Quartz crystals scattered about adding a nice sparkle as well. Damage free and esthetic.

The Meigu area produced the best Babingtonites in the world. Enough have been found to make affordable pieces available now. The top pieces still sell for huge sums even in China. This is a nice specimen, though not a top piece, offered at an affordable price. If from a US locality USA just 10 years ago it would have sold for 1500-2000$ quickly! These finds give every collector a chance to have a good example. This has crystals to 2 CM with good luster on green Prehnite. More pretty in person.
