Galena- Spinel Twin habit
stock #AX-27-133
Krushev Dol Mine, Madan, Rhodope Mts.
Smolyan Oblast, Bulgaria
5.9 x 5.6 x 3.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $875
Worldwide mix summer

Superb, textbook example of flattened Spinel twins in a choice Galena specimen. From the finds four years ago that were big news and yeilded some of the best Galenas of all time. This specimen is top notch the crystals are perfect all around, the edges undamaged and the structure looks like extraterrestrial architecture. A few Quartz crystals add a nice accent in contrast to the bright metallic Galena. More impressive in person, this is a killer with display impact far beyond its size.

Galena with Chalcopyrite and Dolomite
stock #18.1-231
Brushy Creek Mine, Greely, Viburnum Trend District, Reynolds County
Missouri, United States
5.9 x 4.6 x 4 CM (cabinet)
price: $220
Worldwide mix summer

Bright silver color Galena in elongated cube form sits on a finger of matrix covered with small Dolomite and Chalcopyrite crystals. This is the sort of Galena that has made the Brushy Creek locality famous, with extra bright luster, attractive form and in fine undamaged condition. Any suite of lead minerals will have at least one good specimen. These are contemporary classics, still very affordable and unlike the look of Galena from any other area in the world.

Galena - Octahedral stacked cluster
stock #13.1-354
Mid-Continent Mine, Treece, Cherokee County
Kansas, United States
4.2 x 3.3 x 2.8 CM (miniature)
price: $230
Spring update

Very well formed, lustrous and complete on all sides, a fine cluster of bright metallic crystals. From the famed Tristate district, relatively few specimens were attributed to individual mines but this piece is noted as from the Mid-Continent mine. In excellent undamaged condition with a "gunmetal" patina a fine specimen from a classic and long closed area.

Galena on Dolomite
stock #A7-417-(618)
Buick Mine, Bixby, Vibernum Trend, Iron County
Missouri, United States
4.9 x 2.4 x 2.4 CM (miniature)
price: $130
Spring update

A choice miniature Galena with classic habit cubo-octahedral crystals from the Buick mine. Displays perfectly, no damage and with an esthetic composition. This is an older specimen 1970 vintage ex. Larry White collection. This mine has been prolific and has produced many types and habits of Galena which are modern classics. These are excellent values especially when perfect like this.

Galena- skeletal and chain growths with Sphalerite, Chalcopyrite and Quartz
stock #17.1-688
9th of September Mine, Madan, Rhodope Mts.
Smolyan Oblast, Bulgaria
6.9 x 4.5 x 3.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $1150
Pre Holiday 2017

Amazing form! The Galenas here show many unusual habits, the epitaxial chains are most eyecatching but the hoppered and skeletal crystals are also very fine. Remarkable too is the lack of any visible damage. We have handled a lot of fine Bulgarian specimens but this one stands out as a very choice piece for esthetics and combinations of well crystallized but bizzare forms. From finds in 2014 I have not seen any newer material quite like this.

Galena ps after Pyrrhotite - ex Minette collection
stock #AX-12-249
Herja Mine, Chiuzbala , Baia Mare
Maramures, Romania
9.3 x 6.3 x 5.1 CM (cabinet)
price: $875
Spring 2017

A killer esthetic pseudomorph that has bright flattened Galenas arranged epitaxially and completely replacing large Pyrrhotite crystals. This was previously in the Minette, Loud and Hladyz collections. This is also the very best example of this unusual replacement I have seen, in excellent undamaged condition and impressive from all sides. The original Pyrrhotite crystals shapes are perfectly preserved and reach to 7.5 CM across.

Galena with epitaxial octahedrons on cubic crystal.
stock #A7-029-(107)
Pitcher Field, Tri State District, Ottawa County
Oklahoma, United States
4.8 x 3.3 x 2.8 CM (miniature)
price: $240
pre Tucson 2015 update

From the classic Tri-state locale of Pitcher, this is an esthetic, textbook perfect specimen with incredible form. The elongated cube main crystal has a fine gunmetal luster and color, but it is wonderfully decorated with oriented octahedral Galenas that are perfectly aligned across the faces. The geometry and architecture of this specimen is incredible, it is in excellent condition. This comes from early mining prior to the 1930's, and is far better in person.

Galena with Chalcopyrite
stock #13.1-230
Black Cloud Mine, Iowa Gulch, Leadville
Colorado, United States
4.4 x 3.5 CM (miniature)
price: $175

Classic older Colorado Galena with well formed, complex cube crystals and a good contrast with the golden Chalcopyrite. Ex Ernie Schlichter, this is in very good condition (no eye visible damages) and quite 3 dimensional, a nice miniature with good luster.
