A classic old Aragonite crystal that does look a lot like a Calcite. It has good yellow to amber color zoning and sharp form that are distinctive to this classic old find. In fine condition and well-terminated, lustrous and translucent. The original labels (see the second photo) do have a mis-identification for the locality showing the coal mining locale of Bilina. Since this find at Cicov hill is world famous, unique and well-documented we can correct this with certainty. The great finds were made at this locale in the 19th century, the George M English label included is from the 1893-1898 era based on the address printed. A true and choice classic specimen Ex Charles M Noll and G. M English
Aragonite crystals with a violet core perched on matrix from the type locality in Aragon, Spain. Matrix crystals from this prolific locality are incredibly rare and the purple zones are the most desirable. The matrix is quite fragile which helps to explain why most specimens are single loose crystals. An older specimen from the Ara Dildilion collection with original label.
Very impressive form and esthetics for any Aragonite. Ball like radiating clusters of crystals in elongated translucent prismatic form twins that are joined in a chain. Some internal coloring on some areas adds a nice contrast. Fine condition overall, a few chips are seen on the backside but otherwise this is a 360 degree piece, displayable from most any angle.
Aragonite with a classic Copper blue-green coloring from the classic locality of Lavrion. Well-crystallized and esthetic. This can be backlit for a dramatic effect. Minor chipping of some terminations is not easy to notice from most display angles, but it also keeps the price lower for such a nice display specimen.
