Corundum var. Sapphire - Crystal and Cabochon
stock #20.1-290
Ohngaing, Mogok Valley, Mogok Township, Pyin-Oo-Lwin
Mandalay Division, Myanmar (Burma)
4 x 2.2 x 1.7 CM (miniature)
price: $130

Deep blue hexagonal crystal of Sapphire that is doubly terminated (though more crudely at the bottom) and is complete. A few small bits of Calcite is seen on some faces but this is mostly all Corundum. Included with this specimen is a 1.2 CM cabochon cut from another crystal of the same locality. The pair of Sapphires are somewhat translucent and have some inclusions that add interest. A good cut and rough combo from the famed region of Mogok.

Corundum- pale yellow Sapphire
stock #19.1-796
Mysore district
Karnataka, India
3.6 x 1.3 x 1 CM (miniature)
price: $390
Spring 2020

A well formed pale yellow Sapphire crystal that is almost colorless with nice form and a sharp termination. The staggered growth steps on all six sides are very clear and distinct. This crystal is translucent and partly transparent with a very light frosting on the faces. A very nice textbook example of the specie from Mysore India, which is best known for Ruby Corundum, I have only ever seen a few non-red Corundum from this locality

Sapphire -blue Corundum crystal
stock #18.1-153A
Ohngaing, Mogok Valley, Mogok Township, Pyin-Oo-Lwin
Mandalay Division, Myanmar (Burma)
3.7 x 2.1 x 1.8 CM (miniature)
price: $350
Spring update

A complete, somewhat crude, deep blue Sapphire crystal. Several small pits and cavities in some faces are filled with muscovite and some purplish sapphire chunks as well. Some transparent and translucent areas are seen but the majority is nearly opaque. A nice example of a real Mogok Sapphire that is not top gem grade but also not priced in the 6 figures. Nice specimen, these are not often available as every scrap of color seems to be cutup very quickly.
