SOLD Kunzite (Spodumene) - California gem crystal
stock #SOLD 22.1-646
Pala, San Diego Co.
California, United States
5.1 x 2.5 x 1 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $0
Fall 22

From the famed Pala area of Southern California, an older gem crystal of Kunzite that is doubly terminated. Ex. Immer Cook from Schortmann’s minerals this was obtained in the late 1960s. In fine condition and with excellent transparency, this would be a very good miniature Kunzite from anyplace but for California is especially choice. These are far less common today and this pegmatite has been the original discovery area for Kunzite. A nice classic USA piece. In person the color will vary from a light pink to a violet hue depending on the angle of any light source. As a dichroic mineral it makes for impressive specimens and incredible gems.

Kunzite - etched floater crystal
stock #20.1-119
Laghman
Laghman Province, Afghanistan
6.4 x 4.1 x 1.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $380
new year 2021

A nice bit of natural mineral sculpture. This single gem crystal is doubly terminated with the "jagged mountain peak" habit and is beautifully etched. The whole has been completely recrystallized and is a perfect floater, there is no damage. Fully transparent with striated prism faces, this looks great from any angle and of course has the strong dichroism that this type of Spodumene is known for.

Spodumene var. Kunzite - gem crystal
stock #20.1-116
Laghman
Laghman Province, Afghanistan
10.5 x 3.5 x 1.6 CM (cabinet)
price: $480
new year 2021

A complete and undamaged Kunzite crystal that is doubly terminated with good color. The terminations on each end are of different habits, both are very sharp and distinct. The crystal is very transparent, it is possible to read through the center of the prism. Kunzites have a very deep violet color when viewed on end but much more pale pink on the prism faces, this piece has an especially strong color gradation. Fine Afghan specimens like this are a good value.

Spodumene (var. Kunzite) floater crystal
stock #20.1-114
Laghman
Laghman Province, Afghanistan
10.8 x 5.5 x 1.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $480
Spring 2020

Complete on all sides and edges, damage free doubly terminated gem clear Kunzite in textbook perfect form. From the large find at Laghman a few years ago, this is fully transparent with deep striations on the widest flat sides and no striations on the narrow edges or terminations. This helps to show the dichroic nature of a good Kunzite like this. 116 Grams, and all gem grade. A choice example of the specie with classic form typical of the find.
