Gemmy and bright small Adularia crystals in two generations on a thin matrix plate. This specimen comes in an antique handmade display box of cardboard that has had a round hole cut into the top and a glass sheet installed. Old labels are included. The specimen is in excellent condition, the labels reference an early alpine locality now known as the Greiner area of Schwatz, Tyrol. All of the Adularia are transparent on close exam. Unfortunately it is impossible to know the exact vintage of this piece or the names of the early collectors but it is still a very nice antique presentation.
Albite with Fluorapatite
La Marina Mine, Pauna
7.2 x 4.8 x 3.3 CM (cabinet)
Late Summer 2018
Albite in sharp, glassy, lustrous and mostly transparent are the majority of the specimen. There are a few scattered pink Apatites, the largest about 1 CM, which are also glassy, transparent and in fine condition. From the great find at La Marina Mine, that became famed for the pink Apatites and later for some of the worlds best Euclase. The Albites were sometimes matrix for both of these species and I think under appreciated on their own, they are superb and showy Feldspars. A choice specimen that is well crystalized on both sides and shows off the Albite more than the Apatite.
Gersdorffite with Annabergite
Alt Ahmane, Bou Azer, Tazenakht, Ouarzazate Province
4.2 x 3.5 x 2.7 CM (miniature)
Gersdorffite in good or sizable crystals has been super rare until this one small discovery. This is a very fine piece and is the best example we have had from the world class 2014 Bou Azzer find. Sharp lustrous octahedra in a cluster with contrasting green Annabergite shows this Nickel specie well. A brittle mineral, this has some cracks and chipping on some crystals but overall is in exceptional condition. Sharp crystals to 2.3 CM is quite impressive for this specie.
