Hemimorphite - old classic Mexican
stock #21.1-555
Santa Eulalia, Aquiles Serdan
Chihuahua, Mexico
8.8 x 5.4 x 5.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $2400

A killer Hemimorphite from the late 1960's vintage find with unusually large phantom crystals. In excellent, undamaged condition, even the tiny crystals seem to be perfect, glassy and sharply terminated. The largest crystal spray is over 4.9 CM tall and is well-isolated. The main crystals have a slightly yellow color at the top, the body is white and the base has a dark brown to black phantom. Looks fine from any orientation, this is totally unlike the vast majority of Mexican Hemimorphite. In person the luster is brighter than the photos show, a real killer, the more recent finds from Santa Eulalia and and Mina Ojuela are very different, this sort is almost never available. Outstanding for the major crystals of Hemimophite.

Pyrite on/replacing Pyrrhotite
stock #21.1-409-(ZSZ)
Contessa Mine, Santa Eulalia District
Chihuahua, Mexico
7.2 x 6.5 x 4.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $1250

Fantastically esthetic and perfectly formed curving Pyrrhotite crystals are covered with bright golden Pyrite. In perfect undamaged condition, ex Arizona Desert Museum. The main Pyrrhotites are slender sparkling gold crystals. With tapering habit some also have twists or curves. The Pyrite on the crystals faithfully follows the crystal striations. A rare and impressive Mexican specimen, the matrix is a mix of sulphides (Sphalerite, Galena) with Calcite, Quartz and Dolomite. The largest, slender crystal is over 6CM long and crowned with a rosette of small Calcite crystals. Way more impressive in person, this is not a typical Mexican Pyrrhotite!

Mimetite - modern classic
stock #21.1-291
San Pedro Corralitos, Municipio de Casas Grandes
Chihuahua, Mexico
2.8 x 2.3 x 2.7 CM (thumbnail)
price: $690
Late Summer 2021

From San Pedro Coralitos, an older specimen with excellent form. Well-defined bright yellow balls of Mimetite are in both clusters and isolated on contrasting matrix. I have not seen many good thumbnails from this famed locality where most specimens were larger but this one is especially esthetic. In perfect condition on the display side, there is only a small contact on the backside of one ball not visible on display. There is no damage anywhere, this is a competition quality thumbnail.

Mimetite
stock #10.1-318
Level 13, Potosi Mine, Santa Eulalia
Chihuahua, Mexico
6.3 x 4 x 2.3 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $440
Early summer 2021

Botryoidal green Mimetite in well-formed balls covering one face of matrix. From a quite old find at the Potosi Mine of Santa Eulalia, this is remarkably like the famed Mimetite of San Pedro Corralitos, but it is green instead of yellow. The Mimetite has two distinct tones of green and has a satin luster. This is in very fine condition, quite esthetic and with no evident damage on the display surface.

Wulfenite
stock #21.1-240
La Morita Mine, Sierra Mojina District
Chihuahua, Mexico
4.4 x 3.7 x 3.1 CM (miniature)
price: $680
Early summer 2021

Brilliant, lustrous yellow crystals of Wulfenite in perfect, undamaged condition, in a cluster with no matrix. The front or logical display side is very sharp, glassy and sits well on its own, presenting a well-defined main crystal 2.2 CM across at the top. The backside is less lustrous, but it has several large compound or twinned crystals in a pleasing cluster. There is no matrix at all this is pure Wulfenite and amazing for such a delicate piece that it is pristine. From the important new finds at La Morita, this locality has recently produced a sizable number of excellent pieces which allows these to be very reasonable in cost. When the first specimens were found this level of quality was very rare and prices were several times higher. We hope the locality will continue producing for a while but inevitably it will be finished of course. This one is far better in person and an excellent value for the find and for the specie.

Calcite on Hemimorphite
stock #AX-12-178
Santa Eulalia, Aquiles Serdan
Chihuahua, Mexico
11.6 x 2.3 x 2.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $1100
Early summer 2021

A most unusual form and combination. This transparent to translucent Calcite crystal is gemmy and twinned. It is perched on a finger-like shaft, covered with hundred of tiny Hemimorphite blades and also small Calcite crystals. The association and form of this structure is very odd; this was found in the 1970's. The Calcite is complete except for a cleave on the back left side that is not seen on display. Due to that cleave this is not a specimen for the ultra perfectionists, but is incredible for the locality and a very choice display piece presenting an exotic form.

Sklodowskite on Selenite
stock #AX-10-603
Animas Mine, Francisco Portillo, West Camp, Santa Eulalia Mining Distric
Chihuahua, Mexico
7.7 x 4.9 x 4.1 CM (cabinet)
price: $480
Early summer 2021

An older Mexican Sklodowskite on a very attractive matrix, two habits of Selenite crystals. The Selenites are both elongated transparent bladed prisms and the classic "rams-horn" form. The bright yellow Sklodowskite is scattered in several spots in acicular crystals in radiating sprays. Intensely fluorescent, under UV it is clear that there is a lot included inside the clear gypsum so most of the piece glows a brilliant green. Looks great in the daylight too. This specie is usually seen as Micro-mounts, and these crystals are also tiny sprays but because of the setting and size, this is a displayable Sklodowskite; the best I have seen from Mexico and as good as can be found worldwide.

Calcite - Hematite included
stock #13.1-199
Santa Eulalia, Aquiles Serdan
Chihuahua, Mexico
12.8 x 7.4 x 2.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $220
Early summer 2021

Glassy, clear Calcite crystals in excellent condition are partially included by red Hematite. These were found some years ago at Santa Eulalia, the crystals are transparent to translucent and the Hematite inclusions are cloud-like zones inside. No visible damage, this is a choice Mexican specimen that is similar to very fine specimen of the famed English classics, but far more affordable. Better in person too.
