Galena - skeletal, hoppered crystals
stock #20.1-288
San Carlos Mine, Municipio de Maunuel Benavidas
Chihuahua, Mexico
10 x 7.1 x 4.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $950

Incredible,an older (1952) Mexican Galena with textbook perfect hoppered, skeletal form crystals. This specimen is from the San Carlos Mine, which in the late 1950 era produced some world class Vanadinite. After many years with no specimens, the mine again produced fine Vanadinites and Wulfenites in 1980 and 2018. We have never seen any other good specimens of Galena from this locale, and this is a choice piece from anyplace. The Galena has a dull luster from micro a micro druze of Anglesite and some Calcite. The forms range from deep hoppers with geometric ridges to intersecting boxes and even spirals. From the collection of Skylar Alverson obtained from G. Hixon in 1952. Outstanding condition and form, just a super Galena and a choice Mexican specimen.
Anglesite in Sulphur
stock #19-AX-9-051
Ahumada Mine, Los Lamentos
Chihuahua, Mexico
5.6 x 3.2 x 2.2 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)

An oddity, from Los Lamentos, the locality world famed for superb Wulfenites, this is a different association. The mine contained a large amount of Sulfate minerals along with the Lead secondary species and some Native Sulphur. This Sulphur mass has both massive and micro crystal areas and is the matrix enclosing several Anglesite crystals about 1 CM in size. Not often seen for sale, this piece dates from the 1970's.

SOLD Wulfenite with Mimetite
stock #SOLD 18.1-551
San Carlos Mine, Municipio de Maunuel Benavidas
Chihuahua, Mexico
4.7 x 3.3 x 3.2 CM (miniature)
price: $0

Gem clear, sharp and glassy bright red Wulfenite from the new find (2017-18) at the San Carlos Mine. The Wulfenites are associated with small balls of Mimetite that are both yellow and Orange in color. The large main crystal is 1.5 CM diagonal and sits perfectly on the matrix. Some bits of adhering matrix and tiny contacts are noted but not significant, and there is no chipping or damage on any of the main crystals. The Wulfenites at San Carlos were mostly yellow and orange but a few reds were found, this is in person a super intense red color as fine as any top Red Cloud Wulfenite. The crystals are unusually transparent and have brilliant luster on the faces. Better in person.

A neat thumbnail of interlocked rhombs of Rhodochrosite with tiny calcites on some edges. The crystals are complete and in undamaged condition. This is a nice example of the HQLP (High Quality, Low Price) concept. Santa Eulalia over many years produced Rhodochrosite in small finds and unique pockets of many different habits, forms and styles. Perhaps the most diverse Rhodo locale in the world, Santa Eulalia is remarkable and continues to yield small finds of surprising quality.

A pair of sliced and polished Laguna agates with unusual bright pink, yellow and orange hues. One of the pair is the end piece of the nodule the other is a two sided slice and these match well. Fine and complete all around with no chipping or cracks, Laguna agates are now the most sought after and larger sizes have become very expensive. This is a small cabinet sized older piece that has a strong color palate and reasonable cost.
Calcite - intense red
stock #19.1-281-(6035)
Santa Eulalia, Aquiles Serdan
Chihuahua, Mexico
9.7 x 5.7 x 3.1 (cabinet)
price: $800

A stunning piece from the collection of Rock Currier, his label number 6035 is included. The fingers of Calcite reach up to 5 CM and host many hundred of transparent crystals that are included with intense red Hematite. The glittering effect is really impressive in person and this is a superb Santa Eulalia specimen with great visual impact. In fine condition as seen, the red fingers contrast with the colorless Calcite of the matrix. With magnification the Calcite are seen to be in several habits and many have red phantoms inside. A few later generation colorless Calcite twins are perched on the red crystals adding a nice accent. An excellent addition to any good Mexican suite or Calcite collection. A well chosen pieces, these do not get any more colorful than this.
