SOLD Selenite - optically clear stacked crystals
stock #SOLD 20.1-128
Naica Mine. Naica, Municipio de Saucillo
Chihuahua, Mexico
7.8 x 4.5 x 2.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $0

Sharp and transparent crystals of Selenite in an aligned cluster. These are textbook perfect in form, and oddly enough show no signs of true twinning which is the more common habit. As seen this is in fine condition, no damage but some very minor edge wear is noted just to be comprehensive. Selenite is not rare at all but super fine clear crystals like this are really uncommon. The stack of individual crystals is perfectly oriented and a nice example of epitaxy.

Wulfenite - modern classic Mexican
stock #22.1-270
Ahumada Mine, Los Lamentos
Chihuahua, Mexico
10 x 8.7 x 4.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $650
Spring 23

Sharp, lustrous wet-looking Wulfenite crystals cover a large matrix face. Fine early specimen from the famed Los Lamentos finds, this one is late 1960s era. The crystals have the deep orange color that is indicative and most desirable from this locality. The shape of the crystals (cube like blocky habit) is also classic from this locality. This is in fine condition overall with dozens of crystals in perfect shape and only a few tiny spots of chipping that are not obvious in any normal display.

Vanadinite var Endlichite
stock #AX-11-271
Mina El Gallo, Santa Eulalia
Chihuahua, Mexico
5.9 x 4.5 x 3.8 CM (cabinet)
price: $320
Fall 22

Clusters and branching groups of elongated, tapered crystals of Vanadinite from a find about 7 years ago. From Mina El Gallo in the Santa Eulalia system, this find produced a small but impressive lot of pointed Vanadinites. This piece has two distinct sides, one has a coating of the crystals by orange iron oxides the other side is uncoated, lustrous and light green to yellow in color. Close exam will find a few bruised tips but the vast majority are perfect and quite esthetic. Displays very well, a choice Mexican Vanadinite.

Vanadinite var. Endlichite
stock #AC-014
Ahumada Mine, Los Lamentos
Chihuahua, Mexico
7.7 x 6.3 3.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $350
Fall 22

From this famed Mexican classic locality better known for fine Wulfenites, there were also some excellent Vanadinites. The Arsenian variety Endlichite was predominent and some of the best were found in the 1960 era. These are almost never seen on the market anymore in any quality. This piece is from that time and very esthetic. Ex Immer Cook collection. This is well-defined, with perfect elongated crystals covering a large face of the matrix. The crystals are barrel shaped and many have hoppered terminations with central canals or holes going quite deep into the prisms. In fine condition and very three dimensional in person, a nice classic Mexican specimen.

Silver, elongated spinel-twin, floater
stock #21.FC-011
Batopilas, Andres del Rio District
Chihuahua, Mexico
3.9 x .8 x .6 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $660

A superb older specimen from the great Silver discoveries at Batopillas. Ex Behier collection, this is textbook perfect example of a single elongated, twisted spinel-twin crystal with a secondary addition of a few smaller crystals like a crown or hat. This looks a bit like a palm tree from some angles. Close exam shows the shaft or trunk has the herringbone form visible which is characteristic of this locality. In perfect condition the specimen displays well on every angle. Small but with great display impact.

Hemimorphite - old classic Mexican
stock #21.1-555
Santa Eulalia, Aquiles Serdan
Chihuahua, Mexico
8.8 x 5.4 x 5.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $2400
New Year 22

A killer Hemimorphite from the late 1960's vintage find with unusually large phantom crystals. In excellent, undamaged condition, even the tiny crystals seem to be perfect, glassy and sharply terminated. The largest crystal spray is over 4.9 CM tall and is well-isolated. The main crystals have a slightly yellow color at the top, the body is white and the base has a dark brown to black phantom. Looks fine from any orientation, this is totally unlike the vast majority of Mexican Hemimorphite. In person the luster is brighter than the photos show, a real killer, the more recent finds from Santa Eulalia and and Mina Ojuela are very different, this sort is almost never available. Outstanding for the major crystals of Hemimophite.

Pyrite on/replacing Pyrrhotite
stock #21.1-409-(ZSZ)
Contessa Mine, Santa Eulalia District
Chihuahua, Mexico
7.2 x 6.5 x 4.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $1250
New Year 22

Fantastically esthetic and perfectly formed curving Pyrrhotite crystals are covered with bright golden Pyrite. In perfect undamaged condition, ex Arizona Desert Museum. The main Pyrrhotites are slender sparkling gold crystals. With tapering habit some also have twists or curves. The Pyrite on the crystals faithfully follows the crystal striations. A rare and impressive Mexican specimen, the matrix is a mix of sulphides (Sphalerite, Galena) with Calcite, Quartz and Dolomite. The largest, slender crystal is over 6CM long and crowned with a rosette of small Calcite crystals. Way more impressive in person, this is not a typical Mexican Pyrrhotite!

Mimetite - modern classic
stock #21.1-291
San Pedro Corralitos, Municipio de Casas Grandes
Chihuahua, Mexico
2.8 x 2.3 x 2.7 CM (thumbnail)
price: $690
Late Summer 2021

From San Pedro Coralitos, an older specimen with excellent form. Well-defined bright yellow balls of Mimetite are in both clusters and isolated on contrasting matrix. I have not seen many good thumbnails from this famed locality where most specimens were larger but this one is especially esthetic. In perfect condition on the display side, there is only a small contact on the backside of one ball not visible on display. There is no damage anywhere, this is a competition quality thumbnail.
