Silver - Native wire form
stock #AX-7 067-(602)
San Martin Mine, Sombrerete Municipality
Zacatecas,
Mexico
6 x 2.6 x 1.5 CM (miniature)
price: $320
A rather rare locale, a wire Silver from San Martin in Zacatecas, Mexico. Ex Larry White collection mid 1970's vintage, the wire is about 1-1.5 MM thick, and has a very nice patina. San Martin was a very rich Silver mine but most of the silver we see from there are sheets and masses, only a few wires are seen and usually not with this morphology. This is the only slender long wire I have seen like this from the region.
Pyrargyrite with Polybasite on Calcite
stock #16.1-471-(CN492)
Fresnillo, Pinos, Municipio de Pinas
Zacatecas,
Mexico
5.8 x 5.6 x 3 CM (cabinet)
price: $1250
Flower-like cluster of well crystalized Silver minerals perched on a sparkling white plate of Calcite. Esthetic composition with nice contrast as well. The largest crystals in the cluster are the Pyrargyrites which reach over 8MM and are the flat terminated habit. These are quite dark as almost all red color is gone, but with nice distinct form. The Polybasite crystals are more numerous but smaller, most showing the classic flat hexagonal habit. With a loupe there is some damage seen on the delicate thin edges of some Polybasites, Overall the main Silver specie cluster is excellent by naked eye and a few small balls of Calcite decorate the darker minerals nicely. Ex Charles M. Noll collection his label is included.

A large scalenohedral Calcite crystal is encrusted with Chalcopyrite crystals many of which are dusted with sparkling drusy Quartz. The Chalcopyrite is mostly coated with dark Bornite patina which makes a strong contrast as well. Aside from a few very small bruises the Chalcopyrite is in fine condition, has classic good form and overall is a very esthetic example from this famed locale. Ex Charles M Noll collection, I have never seen a better example from Concepcion del Oro, and this is a super esthetic Chalcopyrite from anyplace.
