Fluorite - USA classic locale
stock #21.1-095
May Stone and Sand Quarry - Fort Wayne, Allen County
Indiana, United States
5.8 x 4.9 x 4.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $280
Early summer 2021

Gemmy, sharp, pale yellow Fluorites on a blocky Dolomite matrix. The largest crystal is 1.4 CM and has a very glassy luster. This area of Indiana is very different in terms of mineralogy from the famed Southern Illinois Fluorite districts. Water-clear crystals with very flat faces and sharp edges are more typical at this locale and good specimens are far more rare. A nice older piece that is much more lustrous in person.

stock #13.1-152
North Vernon, Jennings County
Indiana, United States
4 x 2.5 x 2.3 CM (miniature)
price: $130
Spring 2019

An amber to cognac color Calcite perched on smaller crystals. Excellent transparency and form, this area of Indiana has a very distinctive habit to the Calcites that were found here in past years. The faces have a glassy yet melted look some are slightly rounded while others are perfectly flat. Close to perfect but a few tiny edge rubs are noted, though not easily found with naked eye, the display presentation is excellent.

stock #15.1-1069-(SM4754)
Fort Wayne. Allen County
Indiana, United States
4.3 x 3 x 3 CM (miniature)
price: $280
Late Summer 2018

A pretty mid-western US Fluorite with transparent crystals that are far more clear in person. Overall sharp and lustrous there are some small edge jagged zones that with strong magnification appear to be mostly natural contacts and a few partially recrystallized bruises. One tiny cleave is noted too, so this is not perfect but by naked eye it still looks quite fine, has great color and displays well. Ex Charles Noll collection, vintage 1970 time period. Crystals to 2.5 CM, the matrix is clearly seen through the cubes.

price: $260
Worldwide mix summer

A choice toenail of very clear sharp and undamaged Fluorite crystals on matrix. These also have a small phantom - a sharp interior cube but only seen with longwave UV light. An older specimen ex Hitchings collection collected over 40 years ago. A fine modern USA classic.

Post Tucson 2015

A cute, glass-clear Fluorite in a razor sharp cube nicely perched on its matrix. Almost colorless there is a light yellow hue in the crystal. From a find in the 1960 era, this could be trimmed to an excellent thumbnail if desired but I like it as is. No damage at all, a small contact on the back edge is not seen on display.
