Fluorite - Bavaria German classic locale
stock #AX-35-064
Marienschacht Mine, Wolsendorf, Upper Palatinate
Bavaria, Germany
8.1 x 5 x 2.6 CM (cabinet)
price: $200

Translucent mass of small crystals in stepped clusters with almost no matrix at all. The green color and luster are both bright. This is an older specimen from the WG Levinson collection, however without his label, though a later label from Skylar Alverson is included. This dates the specimen to the very early years of this mine as Levison was most active in trading minerals from 1897-1910. With backlighting the entire specimen glows well, it is in quite good condition from this old and now fully closed locality where nothing will ever again be produced.

Pyromorphite - unusual German locality
stock #0177-JM-3326
Krandorf, Schwarzenfeld, Schwandorf
Bavaria, Germany
9.2 x 5 x 5 CM (cabinet)
price: $520
Pre Tucson

A large and very rich Pyromorphite ex John H. Marshall collection. There are two generations of Pyromorphite, the older is a lighter green, the more recent is noticeably darker with somewhat smaller crystals. Bright and striking overall, a choice Bavarian specimen from a locality we almost never see in the USA. There are several small vugs on the edges that also hold crystals that are a bit larger than those on the top areas. Some bruising is here but not really noticeable by naked eye. John was a serious Pyromorphite collector who worked for overt 60 years to get the best possible specimen from every significant Pyro locality. This was his best Krandorf.

Malachite Ps after Azurite
stock #AX-30-049
Flubspatgrube, Lichtenberg, Bad Stben, Franconian Forest, Franconia
Bavaria, Germany
5.9 x 3.3 x 2.7 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $800

A fine old Pseudomorph with a very well formed main crystal 2.4 CM tall. From the collection of Thomas Fitzpatrick, this is in excellent condition. I have not seen any other of this quality, the separation and contrast with the matrix is superb. There are some smaller crystals on the matrix most with some damage or are fully broken but these are not very obvious. The matrix is largely a dark red to brown Gossan with a few small Goethite spheres. On the bottom of the matrix there seems to be a small zone of Pseudomalachite as well.

Pyromorphite
stock #18.1-099
Freihung, Grafenwohr, Upper Palatinate
Bavaria, Germany
5.7 x 4.6 x 2.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $260
Spring update

An older Bavarian Pyromorphite with very dense coverage collected before 1962. Glassy luster and good sparkle. This locality is now part of a military base and collecting is not possible. Crystals to 4mm cover the face of the sandstone matrix. Good color and transparent crystals in fine condition.

Pyromorphite
stock #A0180-JM-2174A
Tanzfleck, Friehung Grafenwohr, Upper Palatinate
Bavaria, Germany
4 x 2.4 x 2.7 CM (miniature)
price: $450

A German classic, bright, gemmy pyro crystals cover the surface of the sandstone matrix. Ex John Marshall collection. Nice "wet look" example of this classic location, and much better than the usual micro druze. Not often available as this mine has been closed for over 60 years and this piece is likely far older than that.
