Choice, mirror bright metallic crystals in a stacked cluster from an unusual locality in Kazakhstan. The main crystal is a perfect hexagon 2.2 CM across. This mine is well known for excellent Copper minerals but this is the first fine Hematite we have seen. The Karagandy region has other localities for nice Hematites but this is both different in habit and better than most we have seen.
Copper- twinned crystals
Itauz Mine, Zhilandy group
5.5 x .9 x .4 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
Complex twinned crystals in a branching display with fine patina. No damage, a choice example of the great spinel twin habits that have been found in Kazakstan. Looks fine on all sides, a very good value.
We have seen and handled a lot of nice Kazakhstan Coppers, which can be very fine. This small cabinet specimen is my personal favorite so far. Textbook sharp linked chain of crystals in a perfect floater with a tree-like spray on top of the elongated spinel twins. Fantastic form, no damage at all and with a nice patina. A worthy and esthetic piece that is incredible in person.
A bright, striking Dioptase with sizable, perfect emerald green crystals on a etched matrix. From Altyn-Tyube, this is of exceptional quality for that location, and in fact is a choice specimen from anyplace else too. Sharp perfect crystals to 1.3 CM long are clustered in a sizable mass, a few micro tufts of Malachite are also note. Most Altyn-Tyube pieces have much less visual impact.
