Intense color and well formed crystals of Cobaltoan Calcite with a strong visual impact. From the mines at Agoudal (Bou Azzer, Morocco) which have produced some of the best of these, and many other important Cobalt minerals. Crystals on this reach 1.4 CM but most are smaller. Cobaltoan Calcites at Bou Azzer is found in zones every few years, most is more pale than this specimen.

Roselite - well-crystallized

Draa-Tafilalet Region, Morocco
6.2 x 3.2 x 3.2 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)

Vivid deep color and highly lustrous, these crystals of Roselite contrast with the Dolomite matrix. The finds at the Aghbar Mine of Roselite, and several other fine Cobalt minerals, are considered to have been the best for these species in the world. The crystals here are translucent to transparent, densely deposited in a protected vug 4.6 CM across.

SOLD Roselite on and in Calcite
stock #SOLD 21.1-187
Aghbar Mine, Aghbar, Agdz Cercle, Zagora Province
Draa-Tafilalet Region, Morocco
7.8 x 3.7 x 2.8 CM (cabinet)
price: $0
Early summer 2021

Outside of Morocco, Roselite is a rather rare mineral usually just micro crystals found in Cobalt deposits. In Morocco however are two prolific localities that have provided the world's best specimens. This piece is a matrix of Calcite crystals that have good clarity and have inner phantoms of and crystals of Roselite. These are hard to see by naked eye but on the outside of the Calcite are numerous sprays and clusters of brilliant gemmy red Roselite crystal that are easy to see and are striking. These are super lustrous in person and even more amazing under magnification. The Roselite is in fine condition, as is most of the Calcite but some at the edges has bruising that is not very evident on display. From Aghbar, this is an impressive display piece for the specie. The main Calcites are also gemmy, glassy and lustrous. This rather unusual association is especially well-presented here. Overall a very pretty specimen with vivid color that is eye-catching to say the least.

Azurite stalactites with Malachite and Hematite
stock #20.FC-119
M Ssici, Ainif County, Tinghir Province
Draa-Tafilalet Region, Morocco
10.4 x 6.4 x 6.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $1650
Early summer 2021

Incredible color and esthetics from the amazing find of 2010 at M'Ssici (Morocco). Since then only a small find in 2017 produced any specimens those with a very different habit. This cluster of stalactitic growths is encased by small sparkling crystals and rosettes of bright blue Azurite with some small Malachite balls. The matrix is a mix of green Malachite and red Hematite gossan. The Malachite is replacing textbook sharp Azurite crystals and rosettes. Excellent condition, the blue stalactites are standing up to 5.5 CM tall above the green. This locality produced many specimens of Azurite encrusting Quartz crystals but very few pure (hollow) stalactites where there is no inner Quartz crystal. In terms of color intensity, form and condition this is one of the best pieces and is far better in person.

Proustite
stock #20.1-910-(ZS-pst4097)
Imiter Mine, Imiter Mining Dist., Tinghir Province
Draa-Tafilalet Region, Morocco
10.2 x 7.1 x 4.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $1200
new year 2021

A large specimen richly covered on both sides with hundreds of brilliant Proustite crystals. This shows perfectly why this specie is called Ruby Silver, the crystals are all transparent, gemmy and sparkling red. The vivid color and bright luster of the transparent prisms stands out against the dark matrix. Ex David Lloyd collection, in outstanding fine condition with a few small blebs of Silver seen with magnification. From the early finds of Proustite at Imiter that were a great sensation in the mineral world. Prior to this find Proustite was only available from a few old classic Silver localities in Chile and Europe, they were (and are) treasured and expensive rarities. The Moroccan find had allowed collectors with less deep pockets to have fine specimens of this "noble" mineral.

Fluorite with Barite overgrowths
stock #19.1-090
Aouli. Midelt, Khenifra Province
Draa-Tafilalet Region, Morocco
9.3 x 5.9 x 4.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $350
new year 2021

A very attractive cluster of yellow Fluorite cubes with a blanket covering of bright pink Barite. From a small find two years ago in Aouli, Morocco, these were first sold incorrectly as being Rhodochrosites on Fluorite. Despite the wrong information, these Fluorites are very colorful and have unusual color contrast. I have not seen any like this since.

Barite (Baryte)
stock #20.1-297
Mefis, Taouz, Errachidia Province
Draa-Tafilalet Region, Morocco
4.3 x 3.3 x 1.2 CM (miniature)
price: $90
new year 2021

Glassy and transparent, a thick tabular habit Barite with inclusions. This find a few years ago produced some large crystals that were mostly milky and somewhat crude. We obtained a few that were more sharp, defined and clear though smaller than average from the find. These sold quickly but we have this piece back via a collection purchase. This is one of the best.
