From the zone in Brazil famed for Amethyst geodes, this is something very different from almost any other Quartz. A pair of spindle-like growths of Glauberite that has been altered to and overgrown by Quartz. These are perfect, complete all around, with tiny transparent smokey Quartz sparkling on all sides.

A very nice Brazilian specimen from the find of the late 1960's at the Dos Antas tunnel. At that time these were big news in the mineral world and many considered these to be the worlds best green Apophyllites. They are notably different from anything that came out later in great floods from India. This is an esthetic, undamaged example from a somewhat obscure locality. A nice addition for any Zeolite or Brazilian collection.

Irai, Alto Urugual region
Rio Grande do Sul, South Region,
Brazil
8.1 x 6.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $250
Simply a very esthetic and unusually well formed piece. The "flower" is 7 cm in diameter and the individual "petals" reach 3.8 CM. The color is a gradation from light to dark purple and the whole sits neatly on a quartz matrix. Excellent condition and showy. Irai has been a very prolific location so good specimens can still be found for a reasonable sum. This is well above average for quality and a very good value.

Rio Grande do Sul, South Region,
Brazil
12 x 9 CM (cabinet)
price: $350
Two perfect radiating clusters (suns) joined together in an impressive and esthetic piece of glass-like Quartz. No damage at all, a fine purple hue that grades to a clear outer edge the piece is fully transparent and glows with even a hint of backlight. Not the typical quality, this is a fine mineral specimen for a fine collection.
