Legrandite - single crystal
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
2.1 x .5 x .4 CM (thumbnail)
A sharp and clean crystal of Legrandite with intense lemon yellow color. In undamaged condition even at 20X magnification, this is from the first find at Ojuela that produced the best of the specie. Legrandites have become something of a trophy specie and often very expensive even for average specimens. An outstanding thumbnail.
A fine, sharp pink Apatite from the well-known finds at the La Marina Emerald Mine. Delicate transparent to translucent crystals with bright glass-like luster are in a faden-like stack. Small but very pretty and in fine condition.
Elbaite - bi-color
Mesa Grande, San Diego Co.
3.3 x 1 x .7 CM (miniature)
Gem clear and quite impressive for the small size, a delicate pastel hue Tourmaline. Formed of two clear crystals one with a perfect termination, the smaller is broken at the tip, hence quite inexpensive. Despite this break the tourmaline still looks quite attractive.
Cuprite (gem) w. Plancheite
Kolwezi, Katanga Copper Crescent
Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaire)
5.5 x 4.3 x 3.2 CM (cabinet)
Sharp Cuprites to 1.8 cm are set nicely on a contrasting Malachite and Plancheite matrix. Some natural pitting on the back side but no real damage, the Cuprites are all bright translucent red when backlit. A good value and no longer available.
Parisite on Calcite
Muzo Mining District
4.5 x 4.2 x 2.8 CM (miniature)
An impressive specimen of this rare but usually drab mineral. Super esthetic Parisite crystals in excellent condition are scattered on a druzy matrix. The deep color and waxy luster of these crystals are quite distinctive. Very choice
Wulfenite - unusual elongated crystal
Red Cloud Mine, Silver District, Trigo Mts, La Paz County
3.5 x 2.4 x 2.6 CM (miniature)
An unusual habit Red Cloud specimen with a bright red elongated Wulfenite aesthetically perched on the matrix. In great condition as seen, there is a tiny contact at one corner but no damage. A fine thumbnail.
Diopside on Graphite
Merelani, Umba Valley, Lelatama Mountains, Arusha Region
3.6 x 2.4 x 3.4 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
Small yet with incredible impact and esthetics. The combination of the mint-green Diopside gem clear crystals perched on bladed Graphite crystals is impressive. In fine condition, there are unidentified hairlike crystals as well best seen with magnification. A great example of this highly sought after combination, this looks great from all sides.
7.3 x 6.1 x 3.1 CM (cabinet)
Fine butterscotch yellow crystals both standing and laying on a Calcite/Smithsonite matrix. For this delicate mineral (in thin fragile crystals) it is in exceptional condition. Micro-chips exist but are very minor. Very good esthetics.
