Willemite -red to pink crystal in Calcite
stock #AX-12-581
Franklin Mine, Franklin Mining District, Sussex County
New Jersey, United States
6.2 x 4.2 x 3.1 CM (cabinet)
price: $285
Spring 2017

A nice classic Franklin, New Jersey Willemite crystal well exposed on Calcite. Vivid fluorescence, sharp prism faces and not acid etched out of the matrix (which was usually done but looks melted and is less desirable). The crystal is typically crude and slightly rounded on some edges with natural cracks but no repairs.

Beryl var. Aquamarine with Rutile on Cleavelandite
stock #AX-19-182
Gilgit, Gilgit district
Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan
6.5 X 4.4 X 2.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $560
Spring 2017

An older, quite attractive Pakistani Beryl that is almost has a Heliodor hue but not quite. The two prisms are well-terminated and have an unusual melted look. There is Rutile as well in several spots. Attractive arrangement, no breaks or repairs.

Barite - Included by Malachite
stock #AX-19-258
Likasi, Katanga Copper Crescent
Katanga (Shaba), Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaire)
5.1 X 5 X 4 CM (miniature)
price: $520
Spring 2017

Clear Barite crystals with some blebs and wisps of bright green Malachite inside and on the prisms. from the great Shaba Crescent area, this is a nice example. As is typical for this locale, magnification shows several bruises but most of the main crystals are in reasonable clean condition. Though not right for a perfectionist, this is still a good display specimen and these are no longer coming out from the Congo.

Elbaite - multi color classic Tourmaline
stock #13.1-274
Pala, San Diego Co.
California, United States
4 x 1.4 x 1.2 CM (miniature)
price: $420
Spring 2017

Very good form and color, a single terminated crystal of classic Pala area Elbaite. A single clean repair is noted, so much more affordable than usual. 12.4 grams, pretty much all gem grade with 3 separate color sections. Fully transparent, we did not backlight the photos, so it will be better in person. This had an older price of 775.00.

Beryl V. Goshenite -Aquamarine on Muscovite
stock #6.2-082
Mt. Xuebaoding, Pingwu Co., Mianyang Pref.
Sichuan Province, China
5.3 x 3.1 x 2.8 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $290
Spring 2017

Simple and attractive, the less common tabular form (flat hexagons) of gem clear Beryl nicely perched on matrix. In most light the Beryl looks white or colorless, but a tiny hint of blue can be seen in some conditions. In my eye it is a colorless Goshenite variety but some may see it as a pale Aquamarine. Either way this presents this special discoidal habit very well. From the modern classic area of Mt Xuebaoding in 2003, this form has not been found for some time. A choice modern Chinese classic and an uncommon crystal habit.

Smithsonite with Calcite
stock #13.1-802
Kelly Mine, Magdalena
New Mexico, United States
8.8 x 6.3 x 3 CM (cabinet)
price: $1150
Spring 2017

A very pretty, classic Smithsonite from the famed Kelly mine. Nice wet look luster and three dimensional surface. In fine condition, undamaged on the display side, sawn on the back and sits well for display. These have become quite prized over the past few years and this is a particularly good value for this quality. The large knob that protrudes from the concave area is 3.2 CM across and has a few small Calcites on the surface.

Adamite, Azurite w. Conichalcite - vintage
stock #15.1-1083-(SM2005)
Tintic District
Utah, United States
6.2 x 5.6 x 3 CM (cabinet)
price: $290
Spring 2017

A fine classic specimen from the Tintic District, ex Northwestern University Museum, Charles Noll, David Crawford etc. Bright Cuprian Adamite crystals sparkle against Azurite and Conichalcite on a gossan matrix with traces of Cuprite. Comes with several labels, is in fine condition, undamaged, and clearly a very old specimen. Almost never seen on the market today, from a significant US locality.

Cassiterite on Muscovite
stock #8.1-010
Mt. Xuebaoding, Pingwu Co., Mianyang Pref.
Sichuan Province, China
6.3 x 5.2 X 3.8 CM (cabinet)
price: $420
Spring 2017

Incredibly lustrous, super, sharp Cassiterite twin crystal set nicely on contrasting Muscovite matrix. The Cassiterite is 1.8 CM in diameter and has no damage or chipping even under 20X magnification. From finds in 2003 at Mt Xuebaoding, this quality of Cassiterite is simply not being found anymore. High esthetics and display impact for a small size specimen.
