Inesite with Barite
stock #A-14-326
N Chwaning Mine, Kalahari Fields, Kuruman
Northern Cape Province, South Africa
6.6 x 5.4 x 4.2 (cabinet)
price: $1150
Pre Holiday 2017

A dense mat of sharp pink to orange Inesite crystals covers most of a matrix which also hosts several clear Barite crystals. In excellent condition, from the classic NChwaning mine, this has fine luster and displays super well. The find of Inesite more than a decade ago has not been repeated, these rank as some of the best specimens ever found. This is a top percentile specimen, with strong display impact. Choice, and now very rare on the market.

Hematite, Henritermierite, Andradite and Hausmannite
stock #17.1-047
Wessels Mine, Hotazel, Northern Kalahari Mn Fields
Northern Cape Province, South Africa
8.5 X 5.5 X 2.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $1650
Pre Holiday 2017

A superb specimen from the esthetic point of view and a super rare example of the weird Garnet specie Henritermierite in tiny octahedral crystals. The bright red- orange Andradites garnets are also densely coating fine Hematite crystals with an esthetic contrast. In undamaged, perfect condition this displays impressively well. Fine Andradite coating Hematite was found in several pockets at Wessels years ago but not often so attractive or with the rare associate Henritermierite. A very fine specimen with several older labels from European collections.

Almandine -fine crystals on Schist
stock #17.1-019
Granatenkogel North Slope, Gaisberg Valley. Bergurgl, Gurgler Valley, Ot
Tyrol, Austria
6.7 x 5 x 3.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $220
Pre Holiday 2017

An esthetic, old Garnet specimen with crystals to 2.8 CM in impeccable condition. What sets this piece apart is the rich red color and translucency, which is far better than most. Well presented and exposed in a nice composition. As is often the case with these Austrian classics, there has been a thin layer of clear shellac or varnish applied which stabilized the often crumbly Schist matrix and adds a little luster to the garnets. This is now seen as an undesirable tactic but in the 19th century it was common. This can be removed with Acetone if desired but it is historicaly accurate to keep it as well.

Pyromorphite - Arsenian classic habit
stock #17.1-475
Bunker Hill Mine, Jersey Level, Kellogg, Coeur dAlene District, Shosone
Idaho, United States
4 x 2.9 x 1.9 CM (miniature)
price: $600
Pre Holiday 2017

This is the wet-look luster that is most desirable from Bunker Hill and the melted type form of the Hexagonal crystals. An esthetic arrangement with well defined three dimensional form. The color is the distinctive bright orange best known from this locale. An American classic.

Pyromorphite -multicolor Arsenian
stock #17.1-476
Bunker Hill Mine, Jersey Level, Kellogg, Coeur dAlene District, Shosone
Idaho, United States
3.2 x 2.5 x 2 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $575
Pre Holiday 2017

Brilliant wetlook luster and intense color with the melted style crystals make this an impressive piece. There was one significant pocket found decades ago that yielded this unusual habit and brilliant shine. Most of the display face is the rare deep orange red color but there is also bright yellow and green on the display face. The hexagons are distinct yet look to be coated with a melted surface of micro crystals. Striking.

Pyromorphite -well crystallized yellow
stock #17.1-477
Bunker Hill Mine, Jersey Level, Kellogg, Coeur dAlene District, Shosone
Idaho, United States
5.2 x 3 x 2.7 (cabinet)
price: $700
Pre Holiday 2017

Bright and very well formed, sharp Pyro crystals in fine condition. The crystals are in free standing sprays on a drusy coated matrix. Very esthetic and lustrous, this is a relatively uncommon color for any Pyromorphite and a nice addition to any suite of the mineral.

Rhodochrosite with Calcite
stock #A-10-845
Santa Eulalia, Aquiles Serdan
Chihuahua, Mexico
5.7 x 4.5 x 4 CM (cabinet)
price: $145
Pre Holiday 2017

An old (1960s vintage) and unusual Rhodochrosite from Santa Eulalia. The Rhodos are bright pink and very gemmy rhombs in small clusters and rosettes. A few white Calcites in rice grain form are sprinkled in and the whole rests on a contrasting greenish matrix that is a cast after what probably were earlier Calcite crystals. In fine condition.

Thomsonite-Ca
stock #AX-6-075
Aurangabad
Maharashtra, India
5.9 x 5 x 3.8 CM (cabinet)
price: $160
Pre Holiday 2017

Most Thomsonite is not especially esthetic or display worthy unless it has form and color like this. Here is a pretty pink ball with sparkling micro crystals all over the surface. The matrix is a light green hue making a nice contrast. This is in fine condition from a small pocket found in 2011.
