Rose Quartz with Eosphorite
stock #13.1-180
Taquaral, Itinga, Jequitinhanha Valley
Minas Gerais, Brazil
5 x 3. x 3.7 CM (miniature)
price: $750
new year 2021

Unusually large, choice and well-defined Rose Quartz crystals in a radiating cluster. An excellent example of this specie with individual prisms up to 4.1 CM long and sprinkled with Eosphorite crystals. Formerly in the collection of William Hladysz his label note he obtained it from Richard Kosnar in 1977, it dates to the early finds at Itinga and is not like more recent specimens. Rose Quartz in such large crystals are remarkably rare.

Diopside (Chrome rich crystals)
stock #15.1-672
Orford Nickel Mine, St-Denis-de-Brompton, Estrie
Quebec, Canada
4.5 1.9 x 1.3 CM (miniature)
price: $280
new year 2021

A cluster of yellow-green Diopside crystals with a brilliant luster and sharp form. From the well-known Orford Nickel Mine, this specimen was in the Warren Johansson collection it is a 1960's vintage piece. This is very well defined for this locality where most of the green or "Chrome" crystals are frozen in matrix or are much smaller and incomplete. The locality was also known for some large Diopside crystals with a tabular habit and a brown color. This habit is completely different, transparent to translucent and not often seen.In good condition, one termination is contacted but the others are sharp and well-defined.

Fluorite with Barite overgrowths
stock #19.1-090
Aouli. Midelt, Khenifra Province
Draa-Tafilalet Region, Morocco
9.3 x 5.9 x 4.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $350
new year 2021

A very attractive cluster of yellow Fluorite cubes with a blanket covering of bright pink Barite. From a small find two years ago in Aouli, Morocco, these were first sold incorrectly as being Rhodochrosites on Fluorite. Despite the wrong information, these Fluorites are very colorful and have unusual color contrast. I have not seen any like this since.

Langite
stock #16.1-700
Klaussen (Chiusa) Eisacktal (Valle Isarco) South Tyrol
Trentino-Alto Adiege, Italy
7.4 x 4.6 x 3.9 CM (cabinet)
price: $160
new year 2021

An old specimen of quite rich Langite in blue green crusts with tiny botryoidal masses and a few isolated crystals. The Langite is quite dense on several faces of the matrix. This specimen dates back to late 19th or very early 20th century, a nice vintage label is included. This locality is not well represented in collections it has a long mining history and sits at the Austrian border area in the South Tyrol region.

Quartz on Quartz replacing Calcite
stock #17.1-123
Langyang Mine
Fujian Province, China
9.6 x 7.2 x 5.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $360
new year 2021

A very attractive, bright sparkling Quartz specimen with an unusual form that looks like snowy mountain peaks. The core of this is a cluster of scalenohedral Calcites some partly replaced by Quartz and then overgrown by a new generation of clear slender Quartz needles much like cactus spines. The core Calcite is fluorescent (red and orange) and it shines through the exterior Quartz. The specimen overall is in fine, undamaged condition only broken on the underside where this was removed. This is from a small find about 5 years ago I have not seen anything quite like this since.

Mimetite (botryoidal yellow)
stock #6.2-936
San Pedro Corralitos, Municipio de Casas Grandes
Chihuahua, Mexico
6.7 x 5.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $575
new year 2021

From the earliest finds of several years ago this is a classic San Pedro Corralitos Mimetite. More recent finds never reached the quality of that original discovery. The very best have a wet-look luster, super bright color and very high price tags when available. They are world class. This piece is really good (far better than many) and has excellent three dimensionality, but does not quite reach the color and luster that would add a zero to the price. An excellent value for a very pretty Mimetite. The form is classic and displays well only a few very minor contacts are noted.

Calcite
stock #AX-19-212
Dalnegorsk, Kavalerovo Mining District
Primorsky Kray, Russia
6.4 x 4 x 3.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $180
new year 2021

Thin undamaged hexagonal Calcites are clustered together without matrix. The crystals are all lightly frosted on the wide faces and are transparent to translucent. The arrangement of the crystals is quite esthetic and displays very well from almost any angle. An older Dal'negorsk specimen ex. Greg Kirby collection. The largest crystal is 4.3 cm wide and just 3mm thick with smooth, beveled side faces.

Wulfenite
stock #18.1-504
Red Cloud Mine, Silver District, Trigo Mts, La Paz County
Arizona, United States
2.8 x 2.6 x 1.3 CM (thumbnail)
price: $300
new year 2021

A cute thumbnail with a choice, undamaged Wulfenite crystal nicely perched on matrix. Good color, great form and bright glassy luster this comes from the attempt a few years ago to rework some areas of this legendary mine. It is not so well-known that nearly all the Wulfenite from the Red Cloud is twinned, though much of it is hard to see by naked eye. This small crystal (1.1 CM) does show this rather well when examined closely. Nice esthetic example from this classic locale and in remarkably fine condition.
