Hemimorphite - Mexican classic
stock #17.1-589
Mina Ojuela, Level 6, Municipio de Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
6.4 x 4.9 x 4.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $850
Pre Tucson

Sprays and individual crystals to 1.8 CM are freestanding on the Gossan matrix. In excellent condition, most of these translucent white crystals are arranged in radiating sprays with the flat edges always parallel to each other. The famed Mina Ojuela at one time produced a lot of Hemimorphite, much was well-crystalized. However, even in the golden years at the mine this would be a fine specimen, far above average esthetically. There are no new finds of this quality for the past few years, this specimen is almost 50 years old. Ex Les Hitchings Collection, his ledger notes he obtained it at Ojuela in 1964, this was the very early period of fine Mexican minerals being sought by US collectors. Far better in person.

Pyromorphite - classic French acicular crystals
stock #23.1-642
Saint-Salvy Mine, Saint-Salvy-de-la-Balme, Tarn
Occitanie, France
8.7 x 5.4 x 3.1 CM (cabinet)
price: $800
Pre Tucson

A rich cabinet-sized specimen well covered with radiating bursts of acicular Pyromorphite crystals. The specimen has Pyros on both sides but the better view is the side illustrated here. Despite the delicate nature of the crystals and the fragile matrix this is in incredible condition and is a great example of this very distinctive type of Pyromorphite. From the important finds in the 1980 era, this has very good light-green color with very well-defined balls. This can be shipped ok with some care but we prefer to hand deliver to a mineral show. With delicate specimens there is always some risk and we will only ship if this is insured. If you need shipping please ask about the options to do this safely.

Carminite and Beudantite with Hematite pseudo after Magnetite
stock #19.1-902
Tsumeb
Otjikoto Region, Namibia
5.1 x 4.2 x 3.7 CM (small cabinet/large miniature)
price: $480
Pre Tucson

A serious specimen of Carminite from Tsumeb. This has a super rich zone of free standing Carminite crystals easily seen by naked eye. These show the bright scarlet color that is so distinctive and contrast well. The Carminites are mixed with lustrous Beudantite crystals that look almost black by naked eye but with strong lighting or good magnification they show very well their color. There are three older labels in addition to ours with this specimen; only one (Pequa rare minerals) indicates the source. This is an old piece from prior to 1965 but it is not clear how much older this is. Though the Carminites here are quite visible by naked eye (which is not common) they are amazing under a microscope.

Serandite with Behoite - doubly terminated crystal
stock #AX-10-714
Mont Saint-Hilaire, Monteregie
Quebec, Canada
2.6 x 1.5 x .8 CM (thumbnail)
price: $240
Pre Tucson

A salmon pink to orange crystal of Serandite which is complete and doubly terminated. Choice single crystal with fine provenance. This also has a druse of tiny clear Behoite crystals on some faces. Good luster, form and color. From the noted collections of Elmer B. Rowley, William Hladysz and the New York Sate Museum mineral collection with number NYSM 10633. That label is included, the specimen was collected over 60 years ago.

SOLD Microcline - Amazonite crystal
stock #SOLD 23.1-643
Lake George area, Teller County
Colorado, United States
4.7 x 4.3 x 3.3 CM (miniature)
price: $0
Pre Tucson

A sharp textbook-form crystal with deep color. Ex Les Hitchings collection, his label notes this was found by Frank Kraus in October of 1982. The color is quite a bit more deep and vivid than is typical. A nice US classic single crystal that is well-terminated and has an incomplete lower termination which is quite uncommon.

Wulfenite, Cerussite, Smithsonite, Mottramite etc.
stock #16.1-680
Tsumeb, Level 30
Otjikoto Region, Namibia
6.2 x 5.6 x 2.6 CM (cabinet)
price: $220
Pre Tucson

A complex and unusual Tsumeb specimen from the important collection of Cors De Bruin who was employed at Tsumeb starting in 1947. His label gives us the rare detail of locality (30 Level) and has his observation "real mixed-up thing!". The matrix is a heavy mass of Copper/Cuprite that is host to several vugs and zones packed with small crystals and botryoidal masses. The Wulfenites here are mostly the bipyramidal habit. This small specimen is loaded with Copper, Zinc and Lead minerals, the kind of mixing that really only is seen at Tsumeb and one of the reasons it is so revered by collectors.

Heliodor - classic form gem Beryl crystal
stock #16.1-519
Padre Paraiso, Jequitinhonha Valley
Minas Gerais, Brazil
3.2 x 1 x .9 CM (thumbnail)
price: $900
Pre Tucson

A very fine gem crystal thumbnail. This is a small version of the famed etched Beryls from the golden years of Brazilian pegmatite discoveries. In excellent condition, this has the typical flat termination and all faces have various sorts of geometric etching. The luster ranges from a matte satin to bright glassy in some areas. Nearly 100 percent of the crystal is gem transparent though there are inclusions to note. Ex Les Hitchings collection this was obtained in 1979 on his trip to Brazil. It is not common to find thumbnail sized crystals of this quality.

Pyromorphite
stock #8.AE-888
Daoping Mine, Gongcheng County, Guilin Prefecture
Guangxi Province, Chile
4.8 x 4 x 3.1 CM (miniature)
price: $330
Pre Tucson

Apple-green Pyromorphite in fine condition from the classic Daoping mine finds of the early 2000 era. This specimen has 4 different habits of unusual crystallization form present and almost none of the common styles. An excellent specimen for a serious suite of Pyromorphites or for odd habits and rare forms. Elongated spindles, stretched wave forms and others are present. In fine condition, this is nicely attractive on a shelf but amazing and complex when examined closely or with magnification.
