Apatite (Fluorapatite)
stock #21.1-486
Slyudyanka, Lake Baikal area
Irkutskaya Oblast, Prebaikalia, Russia
9.9 x 3.3 x 2.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $800

Large and fine prism composed of two main crystals that are joined (and look to be twinned). Excellent blue color with bright luster and the classic "melted" look on the etched part of faces. This is the best single prism of Russian Apatite we have ever had, the termination is especially sharp and there is no damage at all, the lower section shows some deep etching and dissolution white the top is textbook perfect, even gemmy in areas. An older piece (1990's vintage) from this interesting skarn, the size, color and overall quality make this an especially great addition to any fine Apatite suite or single crystal collection.

Scheelite with Apatite on Muscovite
stock #AX-15-162-(C76)
Mt. Xuebaoding, Pingwu Co., Mianyang Pref.
Sichuan Province, China
9.3 x 7.2 x 5.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $1450

A fine early Xuebaoding piece ex Bert Ottens and Shields Flynn. A prominent well-formed orange octahedron of Scheelite is surrounded by a scattering of gemmy Apatite crystals, all set on Muscovite blades with a little Calcite as well. The Apatites are transparent and glassy with a pale color, in some light sources they look slightly pink or violet and in other light they are almost colorless. The Scheelite, Apatite and Calcites are all vividly fluorescent and the combination of yellow, pink and bright red is especially vibrant. The Scheelite has sharp, gemmy corners and excellent luster throughout, most faces show well-defined geometric growth structures as well. No damage, a fine Chinese classic.

Amazing geometric form on this Halite from the recent find at Polkowice (Poland). The crystals are in perfect condition, sharply formed with stepped hoppering that looks great from all sides. No damage, the color is in part from Tolbachite inclusions, an uncommon simple Copper Chloride. HOLD Fluorite, zoned cubes
stock #HOLD 21.1-471
Okorusu Mine, Otjiwarango District
Otjozondjupa Region, Namibia
5.6 x 3.6 x 3.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $490

A choice older specimen of phantom Fluorite from the famed Okorusu Mine (Namibia). The main crystals are especially fine, sharp edged, and transparent. Color zoning is also very distinct with the overall hue a mid range blue with phantoms being a more deep blue to purple color. We have seen huge amounts of Fluorite from this mine over the years but very few were in such good condition with prominent zoning. The mine has been inactive for several years now, these are becoming modern classics.
