Fluorite on Celestite
stock #21.1-509
White Rock Quarry, Clay Center, Ottawa County
Ohio, United States
3 x 2.4 x 1.4 CM (thumbnail)
price: $600

Killer thumbnail (or toenail) of of a single sharp zoned Fluorite esthetically perched on a Celestite crystal. Classic association from the Clay center area (Ohio, USA), this one from the famed White Rock Quarry. Very sharp edged and with no damage, what may look like damage in the photos is mostly internal inclusions. The Fluorite crystal is a flattened cube and also fluorescent. The zoning is subtle in person, best seen when viewed straight on, but it is well-developed and the faces are very glassy in person.

Elbaite on Lepidolite and Cleavelandite
stock #10.1-300
Paprok, Kamdesh District
Konar Province, Afghanistan
9.9 x 8.1 x 6.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $3600

A striking fine Tourmaline specimen with both fine color and nice matrix contrast. The largest multicolored Elbaite is 4.5 CM long and well-isolated, free standing. All are gemmy and have glassy lustrous faces. There are several smaller crystals scattered on the matrix including a few damaged crystals some of which are partly recrystallized. The major crystals are in fine shape and are the classic gemmy Paprock type with vivid pastel coloring. The largest crystals have flat basal termination but some others are the prismatic type. The color mix of the purple and off white matrix contrasts well with the glassy pink and green Tourmaline.

SOLD Sphalerite- gemmy crystal, classic locality
stock #SOLD 18-1-417
ZCA corporation / Pierrepont Mine, Pierrepont, St Lawrence County
New York, United States
2.7 x 1.9 x .4 CM (thumbnail)
price: $0

A flat, transparent Sphalerite crystal with cognac color from the ZCA Mine in St Lawrence County, New York (USA). This is large, lustrous and very well-defined for this famed locality. The edges are very slightly rough as is typical of all larger crystals from here, but overall this is exceptional with a gemmy interior. This looks at first glance to be untwinned, but under magnification there is a small notch that may indicate a twin plane. Either way the crystal is much more impressive in person, the termination is complete though a bit crude on one edge and with backlighting it glows very nicely.

Hemimorphite - old classic Mexican
stock #21.1-555
Santa Eulalia, Aquiles Serdan
Chihuahua, Mexico
8.8 x 5.4 x 5.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $2400

A killer Hemimorphite from the late 1960's vintage find with unusually large phantom crystals. In excellent, undamaged condition, even the tiny crystals seem to be perfect, glassy and sharply terminated. The largest crystal spray is over 4.9 CM tall and is well-isolated. The main crystals have a slightly yellow color at the top, the body is white and the base has a dark brown to black phantom. Looks fine from any orientation, this is totally unlike the vast majority of Mexican Hemimorphite. In person the luster is brighter than the photos show, a real killer, the more recent finds from Santa Eulalia and and Mina Ojuela are very different, this sort is almost never available. Outstanding for the major crystals of Hemimophite.
