Nicely sprinkled with Quartz crystals some of which have green Epidote inclusions. In excellent condition, a very choice specimen that is more impressive in person.

SOLD Vesuvianite - hot pink cap
stock #SOLD 17.1-499
Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos (now Val-des-Sources, Estrie,
Quebec, Canada
2.1 x 1.6 x 1.1 CM (thumbnail)

An amazing color crystal from the golden years when the Jeffrey Mine was producing the world's best, and most colorful Vesuvianites. Electric purple-pink termination on a small but lustrous crystal. Contact and breakage on the back and underside but clean on the display side of the piece. This is one of the most rare and desirable colors. For anyone building a suite of Jeffrey Vesuvianites (in all imaginable colors) this intense piece is a must.

Fluorite (tabular) w. Quartz & Calcite
stock #16.1-036A
Cantera Llamas, Duyos, Caravia
Asturias, Spain
3 x 3 x 2.8 CM (miniature)
price: $290
Winter 2016-17

The recent finds at Cantera Llamas have provided some sweet, well formed tabular Fluorites that can be gem clear. This one is in super fine condition, bright, glass clear and colorless. Smaller Fluorites and Quartz crystals form part of the matrix, the rest is a pale yellow scalenohedral Calcite. The main crystal shows also the "Asturias" style right angle inset with edge bevels all around. Choice.

Pyromorphite
stock #16.1-170
Daoping Mine, Gongcheng County, Guilin Prefecture
Guangxi Province, China
7.4 x 3.9 x 3.6 CM (cabinet)
price: $1475
Winter 2016-17

An strong impact display specimen undamaged and bright Pyromorphite from the earlier Daoping finds. This is the intense green Pyromorphite that looks like it is fluorescent. Only a few places ever produced fine crystallized Pyros with such strong color. Daoping had world class finds in 2000, 2002 and 2007. This piece is of that type, far better than average, it has dozens of lustrous sharp hoppered crystals that are undamaged.

Rhodochrosite on Fluorite with Goethite
stock #A-19-074
Uchucchacua Mine, Oyon Province
Lima Department, Peru
6.3 x 3.6 x 3.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $375
Winter 2016-17

A choice small Rhodo specimen with nice color and in fine condition. The matrix is a dark Goethite that is covered with tiny colorless Fluorite crystals that look black due to the matrix showing through. The Rhodos are mostly scalenohedral with truncated tips some of them showing some "wheat sheaf" habit. Good coverage as well makes this a nice display piece.

stock #15.1-170
Kongsberg Silver mining district, Kongsberg
Buskerud, Norway
4.6 x 2.1 x 1 CM (miniature)
price: $875
Winter 2016-17

A single stout wire of Native Silver showing the ropey textures that are typical of Kongsberg wires. Very nice patina and with some extra delicate offshoots, the thickest part of the wire is about 5mm. An attractive classic Kongsberg Silver.

Rhodochrosite - rhomb habit - with Fluorite and Pyrite
stock #AX-22-111
Wutong Mine, Liubao, Cangwu Co. Wuzoh Pref.
Guizhou Province, China
3.2 x 2.8 x 1.5 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $725
Winter 2016-17

A choice deep red Rhomb habit crystal with a small amount of Fluorite and Pyrite. This looks very much like a good Sweet Home Mine specimen but it is from the Wuton Mine. A small percentage of these were quite fine as seen here. Sharp, well-formed, complete and undamaged this has a nice frosted surface showing etching surfaces. Choice and attractive but far less expensive than a comparable USA specimen. This quality has not been coming out in the past few years.

Fluorite - stairstep habit
stock #A7-111-(44A)
Melchor, Musquiz
Coahuila, Mexico
5.5 x 4.4 x 3 CM (cabinet)
price: $140
Winter 2016-17

A mass of colorless Fluorite fringed with dozens of aligned small cubes with color zoned edges. The smaller cubes are translucent to transparent and have a bright purple hue. In fine condition overall, strong magnification finds only a very few slight edge rubs, not visible by naked eye. This specimen is lit only from the front in the photos but with backlighting it really glows. Ex Larry White collection obtained in 1975. A pretty specimen that is better in person.
