Topaz - Classic Colorado
stock #15.1-684
Tarryall Mt, Park County
Colorado, United States
2.9 x 2.3 x 1.9 CM (thumbnail)
price: $230

A very nice thumbnail with fine provenance. This was in the Warren Johansson Collection since September 1941, he obtained this from the legendary George M White. Warren was a student at that time and was very actively exchanging minerals while working on his Phd. George White is famed for his Topaz finds. This specimen has a flawless clear, undamaged Topaz crystal perched on contrasting matrix. A choice slice of mineral history.

Fluorite -dark zoned
stock #14.1-415
Yaogangxian Mine, Yizhang County, Chenzhou Pref.
Hunan Province, China
4.1 x 3.3 x 2.5 CM (miniature)
price: $350

very sharp single cube perched on a shard of matrix, mostly Muscovite. The Fluorite has very deep purple zones and masses on the outer edges the center core is transparent and a light blue color. Very glassy luster as in all the better Yaoganxian Fluorites. The display side is perfect damage wise, there is contacting and cleaves on the back. Better in person, this is from mining in the 2004-5 season when a very rich area was worked. The locality no longer produces anything like this.

Emma Mine, Butte, Butte District, Silver Bow County
Montana, United States
5.4 x 4.3 x 2.7 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $200

Octahedral Pyrite and milky Quartz in a classic combination from Butte. Additional dark sulphides are present but the main feature here is the lustrous Pyrites and elongated Quartz. In excellent condition which is rare in Butte pieces. Butte is one of the worlds greatest mining zones of the 19th and early 20th century. Good specimens are surprisingly rare, this is a nice one ex Les Hitchings collection.

Spangolite with Connellite
stock #18.1-508
La Finosa Mine, Fontana Rossa, Ghisoni Corte, Haute Corse
Corsica, France
6.2 x 4.8 x 1.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $240

A nicely crystallized specimen from this less well known old mine in Corsica. Specimens of this size are very rare and few have crystals that are visible by naked eye. The crystals here are densely packed, cover a sizable area and are brightly colored. The backside is also mineralized but less richly.

Smithsonite with Mimetite
stock #16.1-672
Tsumeb
Otjikoto Region, Namibia
5.2 x 3.2 x 3 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $360

Cuprian Smithsonite from Tusmeb fills an open seam on the matrix and has partly covered several golden Mimetite crystals. In fine condition, ex. Loben collection (with label) collected in 1986, close to the end of the Tsumeb era. The Mimetites are the slender pointed type and the overgrowth of the Smithsonite crystals is like a cloak. Great luster and excellent condition, the paragenesis is especially clear on this specimen.
