Gemmy bright red garnets contrast with a minty green setting of small Diopside crystals. From the classic, long closed "Eden Mills" locality, these are now quite hard to find (and afford) in good quality. The Garnets (to 8 mm) are well exposed and sit up from the matrix. This is not perfect, there are a few contacts, chips, rough spots etc best seen at 10x but the naked eye display quality is quite fine, and this is far less costly as a result.

A superb gem Grossular Garnet from the legendary "Eden Mills" (Belvedere-Lowell) locale. Top color and clarity, this specimen hosts several brilliant Grossular with the rich deep red color that is so highly sought after. This could be trimmed to fine competitive thumbnail but to me it is fine as is. This level of quality was never common when the mine was working, these are now almost impossible to find. The largest garnet is 1.2 CM across and is pristine. Other gem garnets on the specimen have inclusions or contacts from Diopside crystals that form most of the matrix. A very fine and choice specimen that is far more eye-catching than its size suggests.

A very attractive Garnet from the sought after classic "Eden Mills" quarries (Lowell). This Grossular has a relatively rare color, a rich reddish root-beer hue. Quite transparent and with glassy luster, you can easily see the yellow highlights inside the clear crystals. There is chipping as seen in the photos that is not very noticeable in person. Almost all specimens of this sort have some damage, this is far better than usual.

A classic, showy specimen of excellent glassy Grossular nestled in a contrasting Calcite from the so called "Eden Mills" locale (Lowell) in Vermont. The Garnets are shiny, translucent and have good color. In fine condition, there are some very tiny contacts but no damage is noted even with 20X magnification. Great luster, this specimen was in several fine collections including Fr. Thomas Fitzpatrick's. Very few of these specimens come to market and are quite sought after.

A very special and undamaged Grossular with bright luster and red brown color nicely perched on a complex crystallized matrix. An American classic locale, the so called "Eden Mills" area is usually the Lowell Quarry or the "C" pit, both of Lamoille County, Vermont. The locations are long closed and good specimens are rare. This one is fine and unusual as the matrix has 3 habits of clear calcite crystals nestled in etched Diopside crystals. This particular assemblage is quite uncommon. Several smaller Grossular are present with the largest 1.8 CM across. Good Lowell area specimens are highly sought after and treasured. Few are available and even average specimens are now rather expensive, really good ones are very rare and commensurately priced.
