Barite (Baryte) on Calcite
stock #AX-10-179
Elk Creek, Dalzell, Meade County
South Dakota, United States
6.4 x 5.9 x 5.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $140
new year 2021

Gemmy, very sharp amber color Barites rise from the bed of small Calcite crystals covering the face of this matrix. From the classic Elk Creek locality these Barites are distinctive and unlike any others worldwide. This locality has been sporadically productive for decades and these specimens are one of the best values in esthetic USA minerals.

Adamite on Goethite
stock #17.1-553
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
5.3 x 3.7 x 2.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $250
new year 2021

Adamite crystals with glassy luster and classic bipyramidal form in dense cluster on Gossan matrix. One "finger" of Adamite has fully encased a knob of Goethite adding a nice 3 dimensional touch. Pale green-yellow color, good fluorescence and damage-free in the center areas with just typical edge breaks on the outer margins. Since the Ojuela Mine has produced so much nice Adamite, good specimens in many colors continue to be a very good value for collectors.

Amethyst scepters
stock #17.1-083
Washington Camp, Patagonia Mts, Santa Cruz County
Arizona, United States
6.2 x 3.6 x 2.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $330
new year 2021

A very nice Arizona Amethyst from Washington Camp. Formerly in the Koster Collection. The milky Quartz shafts have a tapering before the purple scepter tops formed and those tips are slightly offset. This makes an unusual form that reminds me of candle flames. In fine condition and displaying well from several angles, a very good example of a classic USA scepter cluster.

Apatite (Fluorapatite)
stock #20.1-782
Panasquieira Mines, Panasquiera Covilha
Cova da Beira, Centro, Portugal
5.5 x 5.7 x 3.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $420
new year 2021

Sharp, glassy and transparent green Apatite crystals in a cluster that features a main 3.6 CM crystal perched on top. The Apatites are zoned, vividly fluorescent, and have just a sprinkle of matrix; this is mostly just Apatite. In very good condition, with just tiny edge bruises seen on close exam which keeps the price low for such good form and luster. Nice display quality Apatite from this iconic mine.

Quartz after Glauberite (epimorphs)
stock #20.1-781
Upper Montclair, Essex County
New Jersey, United States
3.1 x 2 x 1.3 CM (thumbnail)
price: $55
new year 2021

A nice branching cluster of prismatic but hollow arms that show the original form of the Glauberite very well. A choice thumbnail from a classic USA locality that is in excellent condition. While good cabinet specimens were known from both the Houdaille and McDowells Quarries here, thumbnails seem to be very rare. This has a good reddish color as well, looks fine from all sides. These are often labeled as pseudomorphs but should more correctly be called Epimorphs as the orginial Glauberite is not replaced but is completely gone.

Quartz- Faden with tabular form
stock #AX-25-013
Waziristan Ophiolite, North Waziristan
FATA Federally Administered Tribal Areas, Afghanistan
5 x 3.9 x 1.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $180
new year 2021

Sharp and complete tabular habit Quartz with wide faces that show well the inner fadden line. Perfect except where this was removed on the base, this from the incredible find in 2017 in Waziristan. This was a large discovery and there were many incredible shapes and habits but just a small percentage were perfect. Better in person the clean clarity is hard to appreciate in photos.

Azurite
stock #AX-3-104
Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Municipio de Santa Cruz
Sonora, Mexico
2.7 x 1.6 x 1.8 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $300
new year 2021

A highly lustrous, bright deep blue cluster of Azurite crystals showing complex edge and face modifications. In excellent condition as seen this has a few tiny bits of Malachite alterations but is nearly all brilliant Azurite. From early finds at Milpillas, this is unusual since the crystals are complete, doubly terminated and without any matrix.

Rosasite
stock #20.1-780
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
6.8 x 5.7 x 2.6 CM (cabinet)
price: $260
new year 2021

A flat matrix with one face well covered with botryoidal Rosasite balls. Excellent velvet luster and sheen, the color grades from a dark green to a lighter blue green. This is the old style of Rosasite from the 1960's the matrix is a soft gossan but is quite stable. The color and luster of a good Rosasite should look like this. This locality at one time produced lots of this distinctive Copper specie and some small finds still pop up, it has made these an excellent value for such an esthetic mineral.
