Cuprite with Miersite and Marshite
stock #10.1-085
Rubtsovsky Mine, Rubtsovshy District
Altaiskii Krai, Russia
4.3 x 3.7 x 2. CM (miniature)
price: $875
Early summer 2021

This is mostly a fine Cuprite specimen with a main octahedron over 3 CM across, which is very sharp and defined. There are several other smaller crystals and between them are some excellent small crystals of Miersite that are bright yellow, gemmy and well-formed. The Marshite is smaller and less distinct but still a nice addition. From the great find at Rubtsovskly Mine in 2010, these were instant classics when found. The Cuprite is especially lustrous and has geometric growth structures well displayed on the larger faces. Aside from the unavoidable broken area where this was removed, the specimen is perfect, the main crystals are in undamaged condition and are in textbook forms.

Cuprite with Native Silver
stock #10.1-086
Rubtsovsky Mine, Rubtsovshy District
Altaiskii Krai, Russia
4.6 x 4.6 x 4 CM (miniature)
price: $780
new year 2021

Just over a decade ago the incredible discovery of fantastic large Cuprites from Rubstovsky (Russia) was huge news in the mineral world. This is an especially choice example of a fine undamaged Cuprite with the addition of having Native Silver on some areas. Even without the Silver this is a super Cuprite, it has excellent form and luster, is in fine condition and with good lighting the inner red colors are seen on some edges and faces. This piece was found in the early discoveries, it is of a style and quality that is no longer coming out (the find may have been exhausted but there are still some coming from dealers storage). The bright luster makes this hard to show well in photos, it is far better in person and very fine for the discovery.
