Scheelite with Quartz and Magnetite
stock #16.1-117
Huanggang Mine, Chifeng Prefecture, Hexigten Banner, Ulanhead League
Inner Mongolia Region, China
4.8 x 4.3 x 3.6 CM (miniature)
price: $720
Spring 2020

A fine looking, well formed Scheelite crystal in pyramidal form with a flowerlike Quartz cluster on one edge. Very esthetic, the Scheelite has a glassy, translucent, micro pitted and slightly etched surface that makes a nice contrast. In excellent condition, the matrix at the base of the piece is a mass of Magnetite crystals. The Scheelite and Quartz are in excellent undamaged condition. The Scheelite has a few green coatings and inclusions of Hedenbergite which gives it this color. Far better than the typical Scheelites from here and better in person.

Scheelite on Quartz -classic European
stock #19.1-295
Cinovec, Krusne Hory Mts.
Usti nad Labem Region (Bohemia), Czech Republic
5.7 x 2.9 x 2.6 CM (cabinet)
price: $750

A rarely available habit of Scheelite in balls and masses of tiny crystals on a doubly terminated Quartz. This is a very old specimen from the area also known as Zinnwald (on German side of the border) in the Erzgebirge / Krusne Hory mountains. The Scheelite balls are up to 5mm and composed of masses of small crystals clustered together. With good magnification it can be seen that some of the crystals are elongated pseudo-octahedra. In fine condition the quartz is undamaged and iridescent in person. From an old Czech collection, this is the most esthetic example of this habit I have ever seen.

Scheelite -Classic Korean
stock #17.1-623
Tae wha Mine, Neungam-ri, Angseong-myeon, Chungju
Chungcheongbukdo, South Korea
4.2 x 2.6 x 3 CM (thumbnail)
price: $360
Spring 2019

A well formed cluster of elongated Octahedral Scheelites in a stack having selected coatings on some faces. The color seems nearly black but under strong light is seen to a dense dark purple and somewhat translucent. Some minor bruising can be found with magnification exam but it is not seen easily found by naked eye, this is in far better shape than most, some base and back contacts are also noted that are not damage at all. Displays very well from several angles.

Scheelite on Quartz
stock #AX-30-064
Skardu District
Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan
6.4 x 4.4 x 3.5 (cabinet)
price: $720
Pre Holiday 2017

A choice specimen with a single doubly terminated Scheelite nicely perched on contrasting clear Quartz crystals. The Scheelite is quite sharp, gemmy and richly colored. A few small Quartz at the edges are broken but the Scheelite and most Quartz are in perfect condition damage wise. This is from a find in Pakistan over 5 years ago that was briefly big mineral news. The find was small and the specimens have all disappeared. The Scheelte is very well presented- it sits well up on the matrix and has excellent contrast. Even better in person.

Scheelite on recrystallized Quartz with Fluorite
stock #AX-12-404
Yaogangxian Mine, Yizhang County, Chenzhou Pref.
Hunan Province, China
7.6 x 5.5 x 1.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $290
Spring 2017

A very unusual Yaogangxian specimen with the matrix a flattened Quartz shard that has recrystallized with one face coated with these clear Scheelites, the opposite side is dusted with clear tiny Fluorites. In fine condition, the Scheelites are bright and glassy, micro Pyrites are seen on some Scheelite crystals. Formerly in the Shields Flynn collection, this is quite choice (and certainly not typical) for this famed locale. Attractive.

Sheelite with Fluorapatite on Muscovite.
stock #AX-15-167
Mt. Xuebaoding, Pingwu Co., Mianyang Pref.
Sichuan Province, China
8.3 x 5 x 3.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $720
Spring 2017

A really nice combination specimen, with typical Xuebaoding matrix of Muscovite that hosts several yellow-orange Scheelite crystals and a single pink Fluorapatite. The apatite is well-exposed and mostly transparent. The matrix was sawn on the back to remove it from the cleft. In good condition, there are very small chips on some Scheelites and the Apatite has a contact on the backside. Fine luster and better in person. Formerly in the Shields Flynn collection of Chinese minerals, vintage 2004 and obtained from Bert Ottens, this type of combo is no longer found. A modern classic.

Sheelite on Muscovite - fine orange color
stock #AX-16-175
Mt. Xuebaoding, Pingwu Co., Mianyang Pref.
Sichuan Province, China
7 x 4 x 3.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $530
Spring 2017

An older, choice (vintage 2002) Scheelite from early finds on Mt. Xuebaoding. The glassy luster and deep orange color makes this a strong small cabinet specimen, although it could be trimmed to miniature size without problems. These Scheelites rocked the mineral world when they were first found, they were the best ever seen. Now the original locale is closed down, nearby mining still produces some Scheelite but not with this color or style. A modern classic, there is chipping at the outer edge and contacting of the main Scheelite, not very distracting but it is there. So this is not right for perfectionists but if perfect it would be many times the price. Displays well and is a lot more affordable as a result of these issues.

Scheelite
stock #15.1-1101-(SM2764)
Tenkergin Mine, Iuttinskly Mining Complex
Chukotskil Autonomous Okrug, Russia
4 x 3.2 x 4 CM (miniature)
price: $450
Spring 2017

A nice, partly gemmy, complex Scheelite crystal from an uncommon locality. Displays well but some chipping can be found and the backside has a large clean contact where another crystal had formed. A few of the corners show red clear areas or darker zones and the faces show many sharp steps. Very rare to find on the market, this specimen is over 30 years old.
