Beryl var. Aquamarine
stock #20.1-341
Governador Valadares, Doce Valley
Minas Gerais, Brazil
2.7 x 2.2 x 1.5 CM (thumbnail)
price: $90
new year 2021

A clean and very lustrous gem crystal with a well-defined form. An older Brazilian piece with an unusual habit that is quite different from the typical elongated hexagon. Not super perfect under close inspection as there are some tiny edge nicks, but this still looks fine and has nice color, transparency and crystal form.

Quartz replacing and coating Glauberite
stock #20.1-883
Irai, Alto Urugual region
Rio Grande do Sul, South Region, Brazil
4.8 x 3.1 x 1.4 CM (miniature)
price: $80
new year 2021

From the zone in Brazil famed for Amethyst geodes, this is something very different from almost any other Quartz. A pair of spindle-like growths of Glauberite that has been altered to and overgrown by Quartz. These are perfect, complete all around, with tiny transparent smokey Quartz sparkling on all sides.

Quartz - doubly terminated tessin habit
stock #15.1-502
Ganesh Himal
Dhading, Nepal
4.2 x 2.8 x .8 CM (miniature)
price: $80
new year 2021

Very slender Tessin habit Quartz included by Chlorite. A very delicate specimen with the main crystal doubly terminated and hosting two branching smaller crystals. In excellent condition as seen, the proportions are remarkable too, the thickest part of the main crystal is just 2.5 MM. This piece is from a find in 2015 in the incredible Alpine clefts of Ganesh Himal. There were quite a few nice Tessins in the find but most had damage or were not complete. This is a textbook example of this rather uncommon habit.

Cornetite with Malachite
stock #20.1-875
L Etoile du Congo Mine, Lubumbashi
Haut- Katanga, Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaire)
7.2 x 4.7 x 2.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $45
new year 2021

A powder blue crust of tiny Cornetite crystals mixed with some Malachite on matrix. This is sawn on the back but the front is all natural. An affordable example of this rather rare Copper mineral.

Calcite
stock #AX-22-173
Pony Express Mine, Gold Hill District, Ouray County
Colorado, United States
5 x 3.8 x 3 CM (miniature)
price: $60
new year 2021

Scalenohedral Calcite crystals from this Ouray county mine are quite different from others in this famed region. This is a sharp, distinct example of stacked and bundled scalenohedral crystals that are partly coated and included by Goethite. This is an older specimen from the William Hladysz collection, not often seen for sale.

Copper - branching crystals on matrix
stock #20.1-824
Cliff Mine, Pheonix, Keweenaw County
Michigan, United States
6.2 x 3.6x 2.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $80
new year 2021

A tree of crudely crystallized Copper 3.5 CM tall branches from this blocky matrix. A few small chunks of colorless Calcite are on some branches as well, adding some contrast. The Copper branches are locked in the matrix along a line of small holes and are able to be moved several degrees but are still firmly held. The movement of the copper on the matrix is an oddity and not at all common.

Quartz after Glauberite (epimorphs)
stock #20.1-781
Upper Montclair, Essex County
New Jersey, United States
3.1 x 2 x 1.3 CM (thumbnail)
price: $55
new year 2021

A nice branching cluster of prismatic but hollow arms that show the original form of the Glauberite very well. A choice thumbnail from a classic USA locality that is in excellent condition. While good cabinet specimens were known from both the Houdaille and McDowells Quarries here, thumbnails seem to be very rare. This has a good reddish color as well, looks fine from all sides. These are often labeled as pseudomorphs but should more correctly be called Epimorphs as the orginial Glauberite is not replaced but is completely gone.

Mimetite
stock #20.1-711
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
3.6 x 2.2 x 1.7 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $70
new year 2021

A cute, smaller old style Mimetite that looks like a yellow-orange brocolli perched on a sliver of matrix. Good wet luster and sparkle. 1970's era specimen that could be trimmed to a thumbnail but looks fine as is. Good value for a cute Mimetite.
