Dioptase on Calcite
stock #19.1-900
Tsumeb
Otjikoto Region, Namibia
4.7 x 2 x 1.7 CM (miniature)
price: $460
Early summer 2023

Sharp gem clear crystals of bright Green Dioptase on contrasting Calcite. A Tsumeb classic, in fine undamaged condition and with well-isolated crystals. Tsumeb produced many great Dioptase but the most desired are those on the white Calcite like this. The vivid green with glassy luster stand out well. Small but impressive and relatively affordable. This is far more pretty in person.

Sphalerite on Siderite - German classic
stock #22.FC-020
Neudorf, Harzgerode, Harz
Saxony- Anhalt, Germany
4 x 2.7 x 1.7 CM (miniature)
price: $1660
Early summer 2023

Choice, lustrous and quite rare, fine Sphalerite from the famed Neudorf Mines. This locale was worked for Silver and Lead mostly in the 18th century and closed in 1903. The mine is renowned for some of the world's best Galenas and Bournonites from that era which are among the world's great mineral treasures. Sphalerite however is far more rare from this locality, and good examples are almost never seen. This piece has a main crystal just under 2 CM in size, the Siderite is crystalized as yellow to brown rhombs and makes a nice contrast. The Sphalerites are mostly a lustrous black but at the right angles there are bright flashes of red color. A fine and very old miniature of this classic locale.

Fluorite - spherical crystals on Quartz
stock #22.1-257
Namakwa
Northern Cape Province, South Africa
4.4 x 2.6 x 1.6 CM (miniature)
price: $290
Early summer 2023

Fluorite balls on contrasting matrix with smaller gemmy cubes as well. The Fluorites are a deep purple, translucent, and the spheres show well-defined stepping modifications and crystalline structures under magnification. Fluorite balls are known from several localities but it is rare to see the crystal structure that created them, these spheres show very well the modifications that caused these to be round. In excellent condition.

Vanadinite, Mimetite and Mottramite
stock #19.1-891
Tiger, Mammoth St Anthony District, Pinal County
Arizona, United States
4.3 x 3.6 x 2.5 CM (miniature)
price: $200
Early summer 2023

Bright, colorful and sparkling multi-specie specimen from the great Tiger (Mammoth-St.Anthony) of Arizona. Vivid red Vanadinites, sharp dark green to yellow-brown Mottramite and yellow Mimetite are the main components. Tiger Minerals are more or less legendary, the locality is unique in its complex mineralogy and beloved by many. This specimen looks nice on display but under magnification it is truly incredible.

Fluorite - vivid red Alpine
stock #23.FC-087
Pointe Kurtz, Mt Blanc region, Chamonix, Benneville,
Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France
5.1 x 4.7 x 1.9 CM (miniature)
price: $3800
Early summer 2023

A rare and super impressive dark raspberry-red Fluorite from the high Alps. This rich color is incredibly rare and this is a fine example that looks much like a Rhodochrosite from a distance. This piece has minimal Quartz matrix and is mostly all Fluorite, it is fully translucent and will glow a deep red-pink with backlighting. These photos are not backlit so they show typical display conditions for this piece. These octahedral crystals are slightly frosted and have a wet look. These are mostly over 1 CM across in a tightly clustered grouping. From the find at Pointe Kurtz above Chamonix (French Alps), very few had this deep color, most were a typical pale pink. In very good condition, even though there are some small typical rough spots as usual in these clefts. As seen in the photos this is minor and not distracting. Overall an excellent display worthy specimen. The Pointe Kurtz is near the summit of Aguille Rouge in the Mt Blanc zone with an elevation of 3680 meters though the Fluorite was found a bit below that height. Collecting in this region is incredibly technical and requires impressive dedication as well as excellent mountaineering skills. Such specimens are the rare rewards.

Quartz on Barite (Sugar Bowl pocket)
stock #AX-19-021
Murray mine, Sugarbowl pocket, Independance Mts. District, Elko Co.
Nevada, United States
3.6 x 3.1 x 1.9 CM (miniature)
price: $190
Early summer 2023

Bright and sparkling Quartz crystals have sugar-coated the front sides of Barite crystals. A distinctive find this was called the Sugar Bowl pocket. It was discovered almost 20 years ago, deep in the Murray Mine of the Elko gold mining region. As far as we know there was nothing else like these specimens ever found anyplace else in the USA. These are now only available from older collections. The front of the specimen is perfect, there are some side rub points and the back is the area of attachment. Pretty and bright.

Celestite
stock #22.1-256
Hanson Aggregates Midwest Inc., Silica, Sylvania Twnship, Lucas County
Ohio, United States
4.5 x 3.6 x 2.8 CM (miniature)
price: $160
Spring 23

Blue Celestite (Celestine) on matrix in an aesthetic arrangement. The condition is excellent, this from the famed Finley Arch region where this association on Dolomite is especially classic. In excellent condition and with gemmy transparency, this is a choice miniature of the specie from a little known quarry.

Pyromorphite - classic British
stock #17.1-577
Roughtongill Mine, Caldbeck Fells
Cumberland, Cumbria, England
4.8 x 3.8 x 3.7 CM (miniature)
price: $460
Spring 23

From the Roughtongill Mine this is nearly all Pyromorphite with almost no matrix. A solid crystal mass with two generations the larger crystals are more green, the smaller more yellow. Ex Les Hitchings collection, obtained in 1974 during a collecting trip to the mine with Richard Barstow. A choice piece with crystals to 1.3 CM and in very good condition. The tiny bit of matrix is crystallized Quartz so the specimen is quite heavy and sturdy.
