Azurite on Malachite
stock #18.1-406
Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Municipio de Santa Cruz
Sonora, Mexico
2.4 x 2.1 x 1.7 (thumbnail)
price: $160
Late Summer 2018

Pretty thumbnail of lustrous Azurite on contrasting green Malachite. There were many Milpillas Azurites in the big finds that ended 3 years ago, this resulted in great opportunities for collectors to get very good pieces at abnormally low costs. This is such a piece with the bright color, sharp form and fine contrast. In excellent condition, looks good front and back.

Azurite- slender form, complex cluster
stock #17.1-789
Touissit, Touissit-Bou Beker Dist., Jerada Province
Oriental Region, Morocco
6.6 x 4.2 x 2.8 (cabinet)
price: $650
Late Summer 2018

All Azurite crystals with no matrix to speak of. This slender jackstraw habit much like a modern art sculpture was distinctive for the Touissit mine more than twenty years ago. The Azurites are of a complex habit and have several different styles of jagged terminations. In fine condition despite the delicate form, a few bits of adhering gossan are noted in some of the nooks and crannies. A choice and now classic specimen this style Azurite is noticeably unlike any from other localities.

Azurite -Spherical with Malachite
stock #13.1-416
Morenci Mine, Copper Mt. District, Shannon Mts., Greenlee County
Arizona, United States
8.6 x 5.9 x 3.8 CM (cabinet)
price: $900
Spring update

Brilliant blue ball form Azurites sit on a contrasting gossan matrix with a few areas of Malachite. Choice old specimen ex Warren Johannson collection. Warrens notes give the locality as Bisbee and he obtained it in 1937. It is very likely from nearby Morenci as this habit is noted there, and many Morenci pieces ended up with Bisbee labels. Some additional balls are on the backside, but the display side shown is the best for presentation. The soft matrix has been stabilized, the luster is very bright and the color electric blue.

Azurite-
stock #AX-24-298
Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Municipio de Santa Cruz
Sonora, Mexico
3.8 x 2.8 x 2 CM (miniature)
price: $450
Spring update

Undamaged, bright luster, intense deep blue and esthetic, a fine small miniature from Milpillas. The crystals on this piece show both classic sharp prismatic faces and the large curved faces that have a more satin luster. Recognized as one of the greatest mineral finds of all time, this mine produced many good specimens, so the prices have been relatively low for this sort of quality. Better in person and a great value for the most desirable "electric" color.

Azurite -textbook form crystals
stock #AX-24-299
Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Municipio de Santa Cruz
Sonora, Mexico
3.9 x 2.1 x 1.4 CM (miniature)
price: $1050
new june 17

A top esthetic Milpillas Azurite presenting an elegant cluster of perfect, sharp, crystals on contrasting matrix. Not a typical specimen, this form and habit are quite rare from Mexico. Textbook prismatic crystals reach 2 CM in size and are undamaged. Milpillas produced many great specimens while it was producing but specimens like this were never common. Choice.

Azurite with Malachite - electric blue
stock #16.1-646
Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Municipio de Santa Cruz
Sonora, Mexico
5.2 x 4.3 x 3.3 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $650
Spring 2017

The type of bright electric blue Azurite that was major news in the mineral world. The association of crystallized Malachite adds an strong contrast to the lustrous Azurite crystals. In good condition, there is chipping at outer sides but the center is clean and undamaged. Better in person; when these were first found a specimen of this quality would be priced in the thousands. This was a huge find and so the prices have become much more affordable for a choice Azurite. As of 2014 the Azurite zone is finished and no more is expected.

Azurite - bladed crystals altering to Malachite
stock #16.1-091
Khanong open pit, Sepon Mine, Vilabouly District
Savannakhet Province, Laos
4.2 x 3.1 x 2.8 CM (miniature)
price: $420
Winter 2016-17

A great new locality the Sepon Mine in Laos has been producing a few unusual and very fine Azurites. This is a very distinctive specimen with electric blue bladed crystals standing free of the matrix. In perfect condition, some of the Azurites are zoned with a slight alteration to Malachite. Very lustrous and sharp, the matrix is a mix of Malachite balls and spheres of slightly iridescent Goethite. An excellent, esthetic miniature.

Azurite & Malachite
stock #AX-15-259
Liufengshan Mine, Guichi Dist., Chizhou Pref
Anhui Province, China
8 x 5.5 x 4.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $750
Winter 2016-17

Bright colors, well-crystallized and in excellent condition, this is far better than most Chinese Azurites. Ex Shields Flynn collection, the luster and structure is similar to some Milpillas specimens, but with careful examination the Anhui "look" is seen. Very three dimensional and with a rich wet look that is very eye-catching.
