Doubly terminated Prehnite (3.7 CM) crystal showing sharply striated, glassy faces encrusted with small colorless Grossular crystals. One of the rarest colors for Garnet are the clear or white crystals which were found more than 30 years ago at the Jeffrey Quarry. Just as uncommon is the vivid fluorescence (orange to red) of these Grossular. The underlying Prehnite shows through on several areas of the specimen and is highly lustrous with distinct stepped structures and striations. No damage, a rare and choice combination from a classic, extinct locale. I understand this combination (Prehnite with colorless, fluorescent Grossular) is unique in this one find, and never seen elsewhere on the planet.

Some of the best Prehnite ever found came from the Jeffrey Quarry and it came in many different habits and colors. The orange color on this piece is quite rare and the well isolated crystals reach to just under 2 CM. The crystals also show the curved and twisted faces that give a rounded, globular look at first glance. The matrix also hosts many needle crystals of Pectolite that add some sparkle on close inspection. Damage free, this is a well composed piece with the largest crystals prominently positioned. A choice Prehnite from anyplace and an especially fine, rare type from the Jeffrey Quarry.

Serandite crystals up to 3.2 CM with an unusually intense, rich color. This choice piece has a vivid rose pink that looks close to a Rhodochrosite red and contrasts well with the complex matrix. In excellent undamaged condition, the Serandites also have very bright luster. These are also fully translucent and transparent on thin edges. Serandite was never a common mineral and it turns out that many (perhaps most) Serandites in collections are in fact Schizolite and not Serandite. This is a real confirmed Serandite, with top color and form. Outstanding for the size and quality, The classic locality of Mt. St. Hillaire is THE place for this specie, no place else in the world ever had crystals of this size and quality.
Manganoneptunite with Pectolite

A complex open vug in crystalized Albite hosts bright red gem clear Manganoneptunites along with Pectolite needles and Siderite, Rhodochrosite etc. While the individual crystals are best appreciated with magnification, this ihas color enough to be a display specimen, a good addition to any St Hillare suite. Often Manganoneptunites are dark, almost black or are crude crystals, but these are bright and perfectly formed.
Cubanite-large twinned crystals

Unusually large, sharp lustrous and very well defined Cubanite. Although Cubanite has been found at several locales in the world, the only source of fine crystals was the Henderson Mine, now long closed. There will never be any more of these which are by far the worlds best Cubanites. This specimen has a super dispaly face with very sharp striations and clear twinning. Some contacting on the back but the front displays very well. Specimens of this quality can only be had from old collections being recycled, and this size is almost never seen.

Exceptional, perfect, partly gemmy and with glassy luster this is a great Orford Diopside. There were larger crystals found years ago but few were so well defined. This has the desirable honey yellow color and looks better in person. A modern classic with top quality, perfectly undamaged and looks fine from every angle.

Thumbnail of Gem Vesuvianite that has an unusual side crystal. On this a slender off shoot crystal juts out at an angle. It is not so unusual to see very tiny crystals encrusting the sides of Vesuvianites but this sort of prismatic crystal is very rare. in fine condition as seen, no damage or chipping, a clean prismatic contact is on the back side of the main crystal. The Jeffrey mine at one time produced many good Vesuvianites, but very fine pieces were always rare, and now there are no more of any quality.

A killer for the size, this is a perfect 360 degree undamaged specimen of bright and colorful Vesuvianite. The main crystal is an intergrown cluster of striated green prisms that are all sharing the same termination. This is perched on some smaller green crystals which are partly coated with smaller light purple-violet Vesuvianites. These are also very lustrous and have lots of sparkle. Vesuvianites from the Jeffrey Mine are by far the most colorful and attractive of the specie. They are also wonderfully diverse and this one is quite unusual as well as a fine display piece.
