Sphalerite (gem clear var. Cleiophane) w. Galena and Quartz
stock #WAM-16-309A
Borieva Mine, Madan, Rhodope Mts.
Smolyan Oblast, Bulgaria
6.1 x 3.3 x 2 CM (cabinet)
price: $190
Pre Holiday 2017

A fine small cabinet matrix hosting several perfect gem clear Sphalerites on needle Quartz with minor Galena, Pyrite etc. The largest cluster is 1.6 CM and all are glassy yellow green color that is classic for this material. From finds in 2014. The name Cleiophane is not an approved specie of course but it is perhaps the most desirable variety of Sphalerite.
Fluorapatite (Apatite CaF) hollow tube
stock #17.1-687
Sapo Mine, Goiabeira
Minas Gerais, Brazil
10.1 x 3.6 x 2.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $1350
Pre Holiday 2017

An excellent Apatite crystal cluster from the older finds at the Sapo mine. Far better than most that came out, The color and luster and condition are first rate. These amazing but odd habit Apatites have had many names (Crullers, Snakes, Tubes, Medusas etc) and are fantastic examples of epitaxial growth; These have prisms in a chain or parallel growth that is built around a hollow tube composed of many stacked crystals. A really fine, textbook quality specimen in excellent condition. There is a separate smaller branch growth and very good transparency, color and luster on this. No damage or repairs which is rare in any piece of this size, this is even better in person, to me this is a real mineralogical marvel.
Fluorite - Zoned with Calcite
stock #17.1-685-A18x
Annabel Lee Mine, Bethel Level, North End, Hardin County
Illinois, United States
6.5 x 5.3 x 4.1 CM (cabinet)
price: $880
Pre Holiday 2017

A classic Cave in Rock Fluorite with yellow and orange cores and purple outer zoning. Some well defined etching and pitting contrasts well with the sharper corners and edges. The Calcites are distinctive of the Annabelle Lee mine, and quite a nice esthetic addition. The condition of the display face is very good the only damage or contacting is the outer edges and backside where this was removed. A lot of good display impact for the size. Choice Fluorites of this quality are fast becoming very very expensive. As the mines have now been closed for decades, there will never be more of these and only turn up in older collections.
Lazulite on Quartz with Siderite
stock #A-16-165
Rapid Creek, Dawson Mining District
Yukon Territory, Canada
3.1 x 2 x 1.2 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $120
Pre Holiday 2017

Bright and sharp Lazulite crystal cluster perched on a Quartz crystal matrix from Rapid Creek. This zone in the Yukon has produced some of the most incredible Lazulite crystals on earth, with this type of deep indigo blue color and shining luster. A nice example, some contacts on one back edge but displays well without that being seen. A lot of display impact for the size and a good value.
Fluorite on Quartz with Calcite
stock #16.1-346
Yaogangxian Tungsten Mine, Yizhang County
Hunan, China
10.7 x 6 x 4.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $660
Pre Holiday 2017

An impressive Yaoganxian specimen with gem clear Zoned/ phantom Fluorites scattered on sizable clear Quartz crystals. Ex Charles Noll collection, an older specimen. Very 3-dimensional with top quality color and sharpness for the Fluorites. The backside and base of this are contacted and broken where it was removed which can not be seen on display. The display side is in impeccable undamaged condition which is rare. One of the worlds top mineral locales, Yaoganxian now produces almost nothing, this type of quality is only found in older collections.
Anatase - Fine crystal from classic locale
stock #16.1-179
Valdres
Oppland, Norway
2.6 x 1.3 x 1.1 CM (thumbnail)
price: $190
Pre Holiday 2017

A super thumbnail with a very sharp, lustrous Anatase estheticly perched on matrix. In fine condition as seen, there is one minor contact on a backside but no damage. Norwegian Anatase are some of the best in the world and are now classics. Choice.
Cuprite- gemmy red crystals
stock #16.1-640
Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Municipio de Cananea
Sonora, Mexico
6 x 4.4 x 1.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $520
Pre Holiday 2017

A well formed, bright stack of Cuprite crystals from the great Milpillas mine, better known for world class Azurites. This find of Cuprites created a big stir 2 years ago, but few were undamaged or had crystals much over a few millimeters. This piece is far better than average, in excellent condition damage wise and the crystals are stacked in an esthetic epitaxial arrangement. These octahedrons all will glow bright red with focused light passing through them, the photos here are only made with typical display lighting, so as not to be misleading. When these were first found the prices being charged were incredibly high, this is a lot more reasonable, yet a fine quality piece, by comparison a really good value.
Quartz (Herkimer Diamond- Black stem scepter)
stock #17.1-684
Treasure Mountain, Little Falls, Herkimer County
New York, United States
3.6 x 1.8 x 1.3 (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $340
Pre Holiday 2017

A Northeastern US mineral legend, the black stemmed scepters of Herkimer are quite rare and despite hundreds of diggers toiling in the hard Dolomite only a few are found every few years. From a recent exceptional pocket this is a perfect example with no damage (extra rare) and doubly terminated (crudely) which is almost unheard of. The black stem is partly deep smoky brown with a few tiny areas of transparency. The top is sharp and glassy and also has dark inclusions some of which are brightly fluorescent. A fine small example of this most uncommon of Herkimer Diamond Quartz!
